The only thing hit in Cyprus was an air base, wasnt it? Miles away from any tourist areas. A slight over reaction.

I don't think so. We were researching holidays and about to book then exactly in that week, the region flared up. I think anyone who says they knew when those first events escalated that there'd be no real issues affecting Cyprus is being economical with the truth.

Not really, as said the one (?) incident was clearly aimed at a military installation miles away from Paphos, Ayia Napa and the like, and didnt it turn out to be a rogue attack by Lebanon or something like that?

I have absolutely no issue with Cyprus, I have a booking there for May and I would happily go tomorrow.

Many people still visit Limassol and Curium both within the western Sovereign Base Area.

Your life is too short to be unhappy 5 days a week in exchange for 2 days of freedom!

One can always make more money. No one who has ever lived can create more time.

A friend's daughter is currently living on the Akrotiri base. She and the kids were moved out for about 10 days after the incident, but have been back on base ever since. Her parents went out to visit them about a month ago, and then had a great holiday in Paphos.

I understand the nervousness but it's been quiet there ever since that single attack.

Greece abandoned EES to avoid upsetting British tourists with long queues. Even though they have now been told they can only abandon it when queues are long, in practice they are not implementing it when it causes the slightest delay.

More friends came through Beziers yesterday, the early flight couple were very quickly off the plane and got near head of queue actually inside terminal, still took them about 25 minutes. The day previous another couple we meet up with took nearly an hour on a mid day flight.

We have one lot going home tomorrow who are nervous about how long it will take to get out of Beziers, which is absolutely tiny and quite chaotic basically a couple of large rooms with toilets and a small coffee stall and an atrium. Theirs will be the only flight departing in quite a large time frame so there should only be one plane load in the terminal, it’s how quickly they open the EES bit as in previous years they have done everything at the gate and open that very close to boarding.

Greece seems to be only country to acknowledge the extent of the problem, and acting quickly to address it. I suspect they have many more small island airports than the rest of Europe combined. It's not due to 'upset British tourists', it's a Health & Safety issue as well. Have 3 or 4 flights arrive in a short time carrying upwards of 800 people arrive and there were queues at the best of times. An EES system which can't cope, makes things far worse.

I think the UK was still in the EU when plans to introduce EES etc were agreed. I may be wrong on that.
