Yesterday was the ‘big reveal’ on the potatoes we have grown in a sack, sadly they are not ready. Had to steal a few for tea to go with baked beans, bacon egg and mushrooms. There will not be any use of that hob for a few days, this heat is horrendous.
So today I had to go in to town to pick up some embroidery I have had framed and purchase Euros for DS one and partner’s S to spend on their Holibobs, early birthday presents.
Whilst I was there I decided no macaroni cheese for tea and instead went to Mr T’s and bought bbq cooked chicken drumsticks, which we will have with salad, new potatoes for Sunday (beef in slow cooker tomorrow) rolls, more tomatoes, coronation chicken for me tomorrow for my roll, whilst DH is at a car show. Unfortunately Belgian buns were begging me to buy them
Total £11.94 bringing spends this month so far to £113.74
I know budget will be over this month
Hope you are all coping in this heat

Popped in to Morries to buy ice lollies (treats and entertainment budget) but also bought a big Indian party snack pack to take to the BBQ we are attending early this evening and then bought peaches, nectarines and strawberries too! I shall need more milk, having cancelled the deliveries for the month, but reasonably confident I can get in and out of the local Coop without spending more. Just over £40 left for the month (holidays imminent; might just make it)

Just been to get the paper and bought a jelly £1.15 at Asda will add on to next week’s costs.
It’s far too hot to make the blackberry (last year’s final bag) and apple filo pie I was gunna do for tomorrow’s lunch. Beef brisket is bubbling in the slow cooker.Think I will have to sweat over the hob tomorrow briefly because both bean types are ready in the garden. That’s if I survive tonight. D.H has come up with the brilliant idea of taking the 📺 in to the garden and has invited all the neighbours to watch the match.
Enjoy

@TravelCrystal Mum used to whisk evaporated milk to a froth, filling the bowl of her 1960s Kenwood, and stir in lemon jelly, made with less water and cooled but not set, for a lovely frothy desert. My sister still makes a froth of evap to make it go further on puddings. She had to be extremely frugal as her husband controlled every penny, even fitting locks on the food cupboards so the children didn’t steal his biscuits.
