Sensible travel medical cover
Does anyone know of a travel insurance company or broker who can use medical knowledge and common sense in assessing applicants with complex medical conditions, instead of the usual tick-box approach? My problem is the blanket policy of not covering anything that is awaiting diagnosis. I am waiting for tests/consultations for two such issues, for which I can't get cover. I understand why insurers do this, but - being a doctor myself - I know the possible range of diagnoses, and feel that if a doctor assessed my application they might offer cover, although perhaps at a higher premium. I know it's a forlorn hope, but just asking!

Travel insurance can be bought for under £20, as a doctor how much do you charge for doing a medical report? Then factor in probably less than 1 in 10 quotes result in a sale Our GP charges something like £150 so the base price of your insurance would have to go up by £1,500-£3,000 just to cover report costs and thats not factoring in the cost of someone reviewing the report and interpreting it.
Search on this forum, here and the insurance section, people do occasionally find someone willing to cover them with an undiagnosed condition but that does exclude that condition and related until there is a formal diagnosis.
If it's your only condition you could go with one of the few that exclude all conditions.
These days I work in the Lloyds of London insurance market and significant proportion of risks underwritten do have experts reviewing paperwork, reports being considered or commissioned etc but then the average premium is a six figure sum so it can carry the cost and these types of risks dont get passed around a hundred different insurers

Have you tried Staysure and AllClear?

I doubt that any insurer will cover an undiagnosed condition, as they don’t know the risk they would be taking on.
I’ve done extensive research trying to get an insurer that would cover me. The only one that did was AllClear. I believe they can cover conditions, excluding the undiagnosed condition, but you need to call them rather than get a quote online.

No, I'm not under investigation.
I have a brain condition which puts me at a higher risk of stroke or heart attack. Apparently, it's quite common and is usually found when looking for something else. Mine was found by accident when I had an MRI brain scan looking for a tumour on my pituitary gland, which they didn't find. I take no treatment or medication for it and it's not being monitored. I feel I'm being penalised for something I haven't had, while people who have actually had a stroke or heart attack can get insurance. I'd been in hospital in Tenerife with pneumonia for 2 weeks, but AllClear still quoted.

Allclear and staysure are the top 2 that cover medical conditions that others might not.

AllClear covered me, but Staysure declined to quote.
