I've had enough of all of them nowadays, I'll give them a quick call to see if we can get near to an acceptable price and if not I put in a OTS for the BB and ignore any subsequent offers triggered by the OTS.

How do you activate a OTS? Is this like requesting a PAC when moving mobile networks?

I called today to test the waters and they offered me Full Fibre 145 for £23.99 per month, with increases taking place in March 2027 and March 2028.

When you sign up for another BB supplier you'll be asked if you're moving from another supplier, you pick the supplier from the list, confirm if you want to move a landline number over, and that's it. The new supplier handles everything after that.

If you do end up switching you can always just change the wifi id/password of your new provider's router to match your old plusnet one, then existing devices should just keep connecting

That is what I do, I must be on at least my 5th router with the same SSID / password with minimal hiccups - my SSID being "Orange????" might be a bit of a clue to the timeline involved.

I didn’t even realise that was possible. I had to reconnect multiple ‘smart’ devices fairly recently after an ‘upgraded’ Hub from Plusnet
I’m moving to Zen next week and was not looking forward to having to do it all again. Is it easier to change router SSID & password? No repercussions changing SSID?

No repercussions at all. If you use a 3rd party mesh system rather than pay an ISP for their extenders, you can just disable the ISP supplied routers wifi and plug one of the mesh nodes into the new router. Anything wired to any node of course is also unaffected. In some cases you don't even need the ISP router at all.

I don’t have a 3rd party mesh system, or any ISP extenders. When Plusnet sent me ‘upgraded’ router several weeks ago, I had to reconnect several ‘smart’ devices & systems (Hive, Octopus mini, LG TV, Sky+, various TAPO plugs, printer, iPhones, iPad etc etc) which at 76 I find increasingly challenging.

Today BB & phone are switching to Zen (Plusnet have already withdrawn service) and I was hoping that I could avoid all that by changing the new router SSID & password back to the existing.
But only if that is straightforward & has no repercussions.
Hope that makes sense.

I don't know what make/model of router Zen supply but my experience, across maybe a dozen different routers, has been that it's fairly painless.
