That's great news about work, and good idea to keep to budget if you can manage without your wages, its a very good amount to save each month.
Its so frustrating isn't it when everyone expects you to do everything, you never get to be the one who gets to go and just chill out. Hopefully hubby asks family members for help rather than expecting you to help

Thanks all
All done…. I stood my ground and did nowt 😂
MIL made a slightly snide comment about poor DH running around doing everything. I said that chemo was tiring and it was a shame guests hadn’t brought side dishes or puds to help out and she was ‘but we never normally do’ 👀
BIL made some joke that we were pros at hosting, DH said they are welcome to host to get some practice in 😂 Both him and his wife looked a bit sheepish.
My youngest (completely unprompted) asked why he’s never eaten at their houses….
Both mine and DHs mums are on their own so I’m very conscious to invite them on key dates - Mother’s Day, Easter Sunday, Christmas, their birthdays. But I do get annoyed at both mine and DH’s brothers… it’s like 20 years now 🙄This Mother’s Day and Easter we didn’t have the mums as I was newly diagnosed and neither brother did anything, so they were both on their own 😢

I’m going to sound like such a cow now… the other thing I did was not get any booze in 😂
I’m not drinking alcohol during treatment, DH was going to be busy anyway and was happy with 0%. Food for 14 was expensive enough.
They all turned up empty handed as always but couldn’t really say anything. BIL ended up doing a booze run 😂DFD March 2025 (£35000 paid off)

That's so awful that they didn't do anything because you hadn't arranged it. so frustrating when that happens, its like they are your parent too. But well done for standing your ground and making a comment back. I just think some people just don't think, if i ever get invited to someone else's home, I always ask if there's anything I should bring. Its polite to ask even if most of time people say no!

good for you! I'm not a drinker so I always say to people, if you want to drink you need to bring your own! Hopefully they might have learnt their lesson this time round.

Yey, good for you!
Yes my brother and his wife would say things like, oh you do it so well, we can’t compete….I said, well
try it and I’ll let you know!2 -
They shouldn’t expect you to host while undergoing treatment. I can’t believe family would do that 😞Ok come round to yours but they should bring food/drinks with them and set out/clear up.
I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping) -.literally have been run over by a bike, mobility scooter and a car - still here 💪3 -
Yes exactly! Talk about thoughtless
