Nothing phones
Does anyone have any experience of this phone company? I've used Motorola devices for years, but their security updates aren't great. I'm trying to decide between buying Moto g77 and nothing phone 3a lite on Argos - both on offer. 3a looks interesting and security updates until Oct 2031 compared to Jun 2030 for the g77. But Nothing are an unknown quantity to me.

I've been using my Nothing Phone 1 since December 2022 as my main phone and here we are in May 2026 and I'm still using it.
I'm not a massively heavy user. I don't do any gaming and use it mainly for browsing the internet and YouTube as well as holding all my banking apps. It's one downside is the camera.
It maybe worthwhile comparing them on GSMArena.com: Nothing (3a) Lite vs. Motorola Moto G77 or watching some YouTube reviews.
My main reasons for using choosing Nothing is that it's a British firm and it uses a modified Android OS with hardly any bloatware.
Edit: Forgot to mention - the battery life is still superb after all this time.
Funnily enough I was also thinking of upgrading to the Nothing (4a) on Amazon or Argos given the discount.

I've had my Nothing 3a Pro for 7 months, great phone, good battery life and as above no bloatware.
I've found the Nothing OS very easy to use, I'm 67 but quite tech savvy.1 -
Thank you both, really helpful replies. I'm late 50s and pretty tech savvy, the marketing of the Nothing phones isn't aimed at my age group, so good to hear it's not just the younger audience using them!
I've looked at reviews for both and done comparisons. If the Moto had longer support, I'd probably just go for that for convenience. I tend to keep a phone for at least 4 years, but I'd like to go for 5 if the hardware and software supported it. So it's encouraging to hear one of the early Nothing phones is still going strong.
Can the OS be made to look like standard android?

Oh and, like the no bloatware approach, that's why I've stuck with Motorola. I've been reading about lock screen ads appearing in later nothing OS updates, not keen on that!

There's also Fairphone, a Dutch company which makes self repairable phones, which it might be worth looking at if you'd like something with years of updates, and no bloatware
I have a Pixel 8 which I really like, but the Fairphone was also under consideration when I bought it.

Thank you. I've looked at that but the price is way above what I want to spend.

They're a similar price to the Nothing phones on the website, but appreciate that's the 5 and not the 3

It's the budget Nothing phone 3a lite I'm looking at. Currently £199 on Argos.

You will be disappointed to hear that Motorola now download "apps and games you may be interested in" every month or so unless you disable the app.
