I'm going to go off on them

Going off at your elderly parents is unlikely to help.

Going off at EE will just get the call terminated. Keeping your cool with EE also won't help as you're not the account holder.

Your FiL has agreed to this; he's a grown adult and can make his own financial decisions. If he's unhappy, he needs to call EE himself and see what options he might have. But it's likely he'll just have to stick with it to the end of the contract, unless he'd rather pay the early exit fees.

With his permission I would look at changing providers like Vodafone or sky as they do £200 (maybe some do more)etf credit and that would go somewhere to reduce the cost.

As you have got 8 or 9 months left that's over £800 and you could get fibre for £22 pm and use cashback site for a little bit cashback will be a bonus.

Put a copy of the bill on here with personal details removed so we can see what your dad's actually paying.

Or he may simply have chosen to pay more because he doesn’t want the hassle of moving to another provider.

You realise the provider will not talk to you without your father-in-law’s consent?

Well, thank you all, you've been precisely no help whatsoever. I'm sure Martin would be proud.

    Martin who?

Were you expecting someone to come up with a solution on how to end a legally binding contract between two parties?

Or just to agree with you about how terrible things can get when you don't look out for your elderly relatives for a few years?

    No, I was looking for

    1) Validation that £90 for basic broadband is bang out of order

    and

    2) Maybe some help with how to argue the same with the fleecing !!!!!! - EE

Apparently "Well you signed up for it so it's your fault"

I'm livid that my elderly (not) relative has been so ripped off, and looking for a way to remedy the situation. I have reminded him to use me in future when making such decisions but you (maybe?) know how old people can be in not wanting to bother or be a nuisance.

I'm incredibly frustrated with the situation so apologies if that's coming out, I'm genuinely looking for help but everyone just seems to be very "well it's your fault" which I don't think is a fair appraisal of the situation.

Help in what sense? Various questions have been asked and yet to be answered.

If Feb 27 is the expiration of the minimum term , presumably that means it was a 24 month term started around Feb 25 , £90 was never a price EE had for ‘standard’ broadband in 2025 , and they don’t invent prices for the gullible or easily misled they apply whatever the the ‘list price’ of that time , dome may negotiate a discount on that , but no one lays more than the list price , so either £90 is for much more than ‘standard’ broadband (perhaps things like whole home WiFi extenders , unbreakable broadband 4g backup devices , or TV services , or £90 is not the monthly cost and you are misinterpreting the bill .

Post the appropriate portion of the EE bill showing £90 as the monthly cost for broadband.
