Annualised calendar view?
Hi MSE Forum
I've got a two Outlook calendars (work/leave/rostering etc) and one Google calendar (home/personal). Neither seem to support an annualised view so I can copy/"super impose" one onto to the other, so I'm currently in lifemin hell trying to manually do it onto a paper calendar.
I can't find a solution (iCal, Outlook or Gmail itself).
Can anyone recommend a free work around please?

Outlook doesn't support an annual view, it never has done and I'm not aware of any major calendar solution that does. You may have to see if an add-in is available.

Apple's Calendar app does have a "Year" but it only shows you dates and highlights today, doesnt give any indication of events etc.
Paper calendars would normally be at a month level and most/all calendars support a monthly view with showing events.
If you can have the two different calendars on one device will depend on the settings of the company account and if it allows non-company devices to display it and/or if you can add non-company accounts to your work device. Increasingly you can but some firms still block this sort of activity.
Personally I intentionally dont do it, I use Outlook for work and Mail for personal life, my accounts and devices do allow the two to co-exist in the same app but its a recipe for accidentally doing things in the wrong account. Similarly I want to be able to look at my home life without having to see my work life and visa versa and by having them in different apps I can surpress notifications of one or the other.
Just the other day a colleague was presenting, she hasn't taken my approach, it was agreed to try and arrange a meeting there and then so she switched to her calendar to check her availability and there on screen was her blended personal/work diary inc the expected date for her Anne Summers delivery. Not the most professional move I've seen.

Like Neil I'm unaware of any option for an annual display - even if there was then unless you've got a massive display I doubt you'd be able to see anything useful.
You can share outlook calendars with google & vice-versa & superimpose them on each other. Your IT dept may have blocked you sharing your outlook outside the organisation though

When working I put all my personal stuff on my corporate Outlook calendar, but marked them Private and made sure the permissions were set so that others could not see the details. Seemed easier than juggling two calendars (and no real need for a year view). Also, it was useful for others to see when I was not available (dentist, etc).

Private would just mean if someone who doesnt have direct access to your calendar looks at it (eg in the Schedular Assistant) that they dont see the details. It doesnt help to stop the person sitting next to you from seeing it when you have it on screen nor if you were to be presenting in Teams etc and pull your calendar up.
I do put personal appointments in my work diary when they are in operating hours or immediately after work (people do put late meetings in my diary) but I dont put any details in so its just blocking the time not saying SBC waxing at lunchtime

All valid points. For me a single system worked - I did not want the hassle of two separate calendars and keeping them consistent. When sharing my screen I was careful to share just the application I was presenting. I have seen way too much embarrassing content inadvertently shared - most usually tabs on web browsers. Seem them all - dating, p*rn, jobs, pregnancy support! Because I knew my calendar had private information I was particularly careful.
I had to google SBC by the way. 😯

Maybe not a work safe thing to be googling… dont think it's a formal acronym either.

Oe method that might ( or might not) be useful for you is to export both the Outlook and Google calendars to an ICS file ( done within each app/program.
These can then be converted to a csv file for importing into Excel using an ICS to CSV file converter such as
Import both files into an Excel workbook and manipulate/merge/analyse/chart to your heart's content ( or export that excel file as a csv and import them back into Outlook or Google)
