Can't get Gumtree to work
Got an email saying someone has been in touch about an item I'm selling on Gumtree.
Open Chrome up on PC (latest version, Windows 10), load up Gumtree but I can't access my profile. Anything in that blue banner - forget it.
Burger menu - forget it. Clicking does nothing.
Post an ad - forget it.
Messages - shows nothing. If i click it I THEN get a red 1 above it but it loads nothing.
I can search stuff, so the site partially works, but I can't actually access my account.
I'm wild guessing that the issue is my browser rather than Gumtree itself since the guy messaged me.
No other website is acting up within Chrome, to my knowledge.
Help would be appreciated.

Try a different browser?
Life in the slow lane0 -
Yes - I had the same the other day - something has changed because it worked fine in Chrome when i put some Ads up the other week
Have had to install Firefox to be able use the site since0 -
I find the (Android) app quite useful. But working fine on Chrome here for me in any case. Ad blocker issue perhaps?

Check your security settings in Chrome.
It has a habit of changing it to "Strict" or "Enhanced" (whichever Chrome calls it now) without your knowledge; -and the strict settings can cause problems on some webpages, problems such as not allowing some buttons to be clicked on.
Set it back to "Standard/Basic" whichever Chrome calls it).

Interesting if security settings have caused it - because I haven't changed any.
Tried Firefox - website works, just not in Chrome.
Weirdly, I have Adblockers turned ON in Firefox, no adblocker in Chrome.

To see if it is a problem with your browser, and not just your settings, you can create a new profile in chrome, and just try the website on that, without installing any extensions, settings.
Adblockers are run a lot by the community and more likely to make quick fixes when people report it is broken.
It is equally possible an extension is breaking it, as well as settings on the browser (including experiments that can change them sometimes). Extensions certainly add more variables to it.

I tried the Chrome security settings but didn't help me
Disabled uBlock Origin on Gumtree page and that allowed it to work in Chrome for me0 -
In the end it was a waste of time.
Turns out the guy with a non-English name who messaged me only wanted to know if it was still available or not but nothing other than that.
Would love if it set off a sound alert on their phone when replying. I'd like to bombard some of these guys at 3am asking if they're still interested.

Irritating as it is to get "is this still available" messages, it is partly at least the fault of Gumtree. Apparently on the Gumtree phone apps that text is in by default. Many inexperienced users seem to think that is what you are supposed to ask!
