Thank you, MWT. I have received the 10,000 free miles incentive for IOG. There is also the possibility of using some solar during the summer. I have no battery. I suppose that I will just have to give it a go, or urge my son to bring the car home once a week.

I have osteoarthritis in my hands so I speak my messages into a microphone using Dragon. Some people make "typos" but I often make "speakos".

Have you worked out how many hours charging you will need when he brings it home?

You still need to keep in mind the 6 hours limit per day, but that runs from midday - midday, so that helps you potentially, especially with your low annual mileage, but battery size in the car will determine how often and how long you will need to charge.

Thank you, again. I have calculated that 5kWh/day will suffice or 35kWh a week. The battery size is 58 kWh. Usage will be pretty linear.

Thanks, I hadn’t noticed the change to being able to set any departure time. Gives much more flexibility.

Pardon my ignorance this all above my head, I am on the standard Octopus Go, I have solar panel and battery, unfortunately my EV is not blinded, it would require some rewiring. I use approximately 1650/1700 kWh recharging the difference between Intelligent and go is about £25/30 maximum.

I would like to change to Inteligent Go for the extra 23.30- 00.30 hour, but don't want to mess too much with the Solax AC battery settings.

I would just like the 23.30-05.30 charging only or would Home Assistant Green solve my problems ?

If you want to have a fixed charge period then stay on 'Go'.

The intelligent version requires that you allow Octopus to decide when to charge the EV and in exchange for that you get lower prices for the EV charging and a longer fixed period for the house.

If you do not want to give that level of control to Octopus then IOG is not for you.

I do use Home Assistant to prevent my Tesla Powerwall from discharging into the EV, and you may be able to do something similar for your Solax, but if that is more complex than you would prefer then stay on Go with the fixed charging period.

Is anyone else's online account now a mess as part of this rollout? I think its only for those where the charge cap has been turned on.

In my case, I've had amounts removed from my balance that seem to be charged at peak rate, whereas the app clearly shows a lot of it was EV charging.

Octopus have noted (not widespread, I believe, but in response to individuals) that there was an issue at the end of last week and it was being fixed. This is the response someone got:

"A merge on Friday caused some data issues over the weekend. We held bills when we discovered - so some accounts will show the incorrect data from 29 July to 1 Aug, and then nothing as when we discovered we'd had a wobble over the weekend we held the bills we could (from the 1 Aug) till we found a fix.

We've found a fix, and started to roll it out for the days showing incorrect data but there's more to do tomorrow. Might take a few days to entirely iron out, but we'll get there."

I haven't got the charge cap yet but the charging was all over the place last month. I had a few slots with charging at full price but I had 3 or 4 days with numerous cheap slots throughout the day without the car even plugged in. I think I came out slightly ahead so I've left it.

No issues with the pre-charge cap IOG version here.

The bill for last month looked fine (99.8% at 3.99p/kWh).

Any error tends to be very obvious.
