MSE News: Lidl shopper? You now need to earn points to get 'freebies' and money-off coupons

I haven’t had any of these special money off coupons. What I did notice was my weekly drop of coupons was less in number and not for anything I’ve ever bought before. In consequence for the first time ever I would say I didn’t get a single penny off our weekly shop !

I did check on my way round the store the difference between exchanging point for products instead of just a money off coupon.
My non exhaustive survey showed that for 300 points you could either get £3 coupon or £2.98 worth of products.

The new points system is still bedding in and stuff pops up at random times as well as the Thursday updates, so set up app notifications if you CBA to check all the time. Look under Lidl Plus Points<Bonus Points as well as the Coupons section of the app and you might find a nove surprise.

I've got 200 bonus points on a £30 shop this Sat - Wed.

I've just been eyeing up their spend £30 to get 200 bonus points offer, and was thinking this won't include alcohol. Anyhow, I set about checking the T&C's, but could I find them? Nope. In the end I resorted to AI, and was pretty much told "snap out of it, sunshine" "Obviously not!" 🫤
Bit sly on Lidl's part not making it as obvious as it used to be to know what's what.

I just spent £32, including alcohol and can see I have 233 points pending so it doesn’t appear there is any exclusion on alcohol.

That is interesting! Its clear that its these bonus offers that are going to fast track low-spending shoppers such as me into freebie-land! I would expect them to pop up at least monthly.
I did a £40 shop earlier and was happy with my £5 off, plus an extra 200 points pending.

I don't really see the benefits of using your rewards points to buy individual items when they cost about the same as the monetary value, you may as well get a £5 coupon off your total spend..... unless of course you're a casual customer who doesn't accrue many points .
Just had a weekly £3 off coupon on a spend of £25
I'm liking the new system
