Keep your eye on the app. I am confident they will drop a freebie in every now and then.

They were clearly giving away too much profit.
Its a bit like when they reduce items in store. There stickers use to be 30% (might have been 25%) and 60%.
Now there only 20% and 50%.
At some point last year they changed the discount.
I live off the reduced items. Although some things I don't buy even discounted as they were overpriced to start with. Reduced stickers allow me to buy things I wouldn't normally buy.
The free bakery item was a nice touch. I never actually brought items in that section at normal price. So it allowed me to have a little treat.
Free fruit and veg was very welcome.
I never understand why I have to activate the coupons each week. Drives me nuts. I shopped the other week. Brought at least 4 of the items they discounted in the app that week. But I never got the discount because I'd accidentally forgotten to activate the coupons.

If you're using the self-service tills you can scan your Lidl app on the till at the beginning of scanning instead of the end on all the till versions I've tried.
This means that any coupons will show up as you scan, giving more chance to correct any issues.

I have an issue with the recent changes: I spent my full £250 on 1 May (I bought the excellent Lidl green egg bbq) and expected my normal vouchers, including 10% off. The new promotion (at that time) had not been announced.
I have been emailing with customer services who refuse to give me the "old" vouchers. Surely, spending £250 as normal, without notice of the change, forms a contract with Lidl and they should have to give me the usual vouchers? Thoughts?
While I don't like the new Lidl offer, it's theirs to change as they wish, with the result that some shoppers may decide to vote with their feet.

I asked Lidl the same question a while ago, it is so that you can use the voucher when you like. Say you had a voucher for free fruit and had a kiwi and a melon in your basket, if the app was activated you wouild get the cheapest item free - which is not the big melon.
So I have changed my mind about the utilty of activation. On fresh / perishable produce, I think this can be rather handy.

Which doesn't work for me, I click on it and get an error message. I've updated the app, as I hadn't done so when prompted a couple of weeks ago, and now find myself logged out and unable to sign back in. What makes it worse is that I've also got a birthday coming up.

CS will fix it for you if you take the trouble to contact them. I always found them v accessible via W'App but I think that facility has now been pulled?
