Electric cars now can’t usually have a spare wheel or a spacesaver.

I have a Space Saver for my EV, could even have a full size spare if I wanted.

Is a good source of spare wheels.

As far as 24 hour breakdown services are concerned - remote is Albania- and even there they are improving.

I'm currently in Bosnia Hercegovina with no spare wheel and it's not of any concern.

Memories of a few years back on the road up from Derwentwater to Watendlath. Someone had hit the sidewall of their tyre on a rock. Put on spare. Then did the two-puncture trick! Perhaps we should all carry two spares??

I have never had a puncture and thought it was such a convenient time for it to happen!

Boxing Day needing to get somewhere, that wasn't convenient, spare to the rescue,

My wife used to have an office on an industrial estate with various trades outlets and trades vans drop a lot of screws and nails. Spare tyre was used a lot during the time.

As a result my approach - "no spare, no buy" and I have refused cars because the vehicle had no where to carry a spare.

From the 1930s to the 1950s, certain Morgan models featured 2 spare wheels carried vertically at the rear

It’s worth checking that the roadside assistance given with a new car includes assistance with a puncture. Renault give 3 years assistance with a new car but it excludes ‘Changes of punctures or damaged tyres or wheels’ as outlined on page 2 of the t&c

I know this is tempting fate but it's been around 20 years and 2 cars since I've had a puncture, previous to that punctures were a regular occurrence - even managed two in one day once.

I came across a young woman changing a wheel on a country road. I pulled up in front of her and got out to see if she needed help. She promptly jumped in her car, locked all the doors and shouted she was going to call the police.

I'm unsure if it's a sign of the times or I look like an axe murderer.
