Currys and out of warranty

Also worth noting that if you can prove a manufacturing fault and the repair costs are too high (for example, almost the same as the laptop cost) and the exact same model is no longer stocked, your rights are a partial refund.
Probably best to stop arguing with them, especially when you’re in the wrong. And the reason I say that is that there may be some goodwill involved in a resolution for you. But from experience of dealing with customers, that goes out the window for me when they continue to argue or try to prove a point that is incorrect.

Hi,

i will call Lenovo on monday and see if what they say, see if they might offer to repair it, they do offer and extended warrenty that you can take out if 60 days out of the manufacturers one

In that Lenovo forum post they don't state that it is a power or motherboard issue, in response to your leading question ("is this looking like more of a MB failure?"), but that "Based on your symptoms, a system board or power circuit issue is possible and would need hardware diagnostics".

they say this
4) External indicators - Note any changes in the charge LED when you connect/disconnect AC (steady vs. blinking). If it never goes steady and the system won’t power, that can point to the DC-in board, battery protection latch, or system board.

Exactly - that can point to those possibilities! It's clearly not a confirmed diagnosis…

yeah, point 4 is happening, so it is still a fault, and if you search the forums it is a common fault,

But in itself that doesn't count for anything in terms of your consumer rights, unless there's maybe some sort of manufacturer recall - at this stage nobody qualified has definitively diagnosed your issue and therefore the ball remains in your court to establish whether or not it's a manufacturer fault, either via Currys or an independent technician, or potentially the manufacturer route…

i did take it to an indi shop, they had a look and said it was power or MB, but did not want to investigate further as they woul have to removed the warrenty offer, i can get an extended warrenty from Lenovo for 12 months for £119,

If you want to use the findings of an independent expert to challenge the retailer, then they'd need to put their findings into writing and come up with a firm diagnosis that proves the fault to be a manufacturing fault or similar, rather than something that had failed for other reasons.
If you're convinced that it is such a fault, then buying an extended warranty for £119 seems an odd alternative to paying a refundable £50 to the retailer to get it fixed?
