Of course there are issues over the length of time HSBC are taking to complete the actual transfer but this is of no consequence if they don't even have your transfer request. It wouldn't be the first time that a transfer request handed in at a Branch, or sent by post, didn't ever reach the transfer team.

If you don't want to proceed with the transfer, just tell HSBC, and importantly also your current ISA provider.

    HSBC

I sent my downloaded transfer forms by RM Special Delivery. It was pretty expensive at £9.45, but considering all the detailed private info on the forms ie.NI number, DOB, account numbers etc I felt it would hopefully be money well spent. Also the benefit of guaranteed delivery by 1pm next day, and lets face it, a minor cost v £1k reward.

I'll be chasing them if I don't hear anything from them this week.

Hello. I am intending to open a fixed rate ISA with HSBC. I wish to transfer in an ISA currently held with Santander, however, the Santander ISA is a one year fixed rate which doesn’t mature until 01/06/26.

If i submit the request to HSBC to transfer before 11th May and ask for the transfer to be done after 1st June, will it still qualify for the reward?

    Thanks for any advice

HSBC told me that I have 60 or 70 days from account opening for the transfer to complete and still count for the offer. The offer terms do mention a 70-day transfer-in period but not in the exact context of your question.

So in theory you should be alright if you open your ISA and give the transfer instructions in the next few days but don't take my, or any other Internet stranger's, word for it, get it confirmed by HSBC and keep a record of the confirmation.

IF, u do find u might need to close it before maturity date, this MSE ISA calculator can help u to work out if it's viable to do so.

Get ready, because you won't hear a thing! They only sent an email when I opened mine on 18th March. Other than that, I've done all the chasing and am no nearer to getting my money despite T212 confirming it had been transferred to HSBC on 1st April. Nobody can tell me where my money is. Live chat and phone support are useless!

@bioboybill Truely shocking for a global household name bank! I hope your money appears in your account tomorrow, and I hope you are lodging a formal complaint.

I lodged a formal complaint last Wednesday, and I received a reply by email to say they hoped to resolve the matter within 15 days, although it could take up to 35 days! When you consider the transfer happened 20 days ago already it's baffling that they could take so long. £20K might be trivial to them, but for me it's a lot of money!

Just out of interest... has anyone who requested an ISA transfer into HSBC via a paper form, actually received the funds in their HSBC fixed rate ISA yet?

After all the negatives being posted here I'm seriously considering binning them off before they make a start on my transfer.

I just wondered if anyone has actually had a success with their transfer yet?
