I just noticed this thread and thought I would try and buy a Dyson as cold do with one.
I am a debenhams gold card holder and used all 3 codes and got the price down to £108.00.
I used my Gold Card to pay and my nectar card for points - just had email to confirm - lets see if I get it cancelled ! if I get it I get it and if I dont, I have saved the money!

Mine got cancelled next day ! Oh well - just been reading how they arent that good anyway - so looking at a Henry now!

I ordered one this afternoon along with 2 other sale items using my Debenhams card.
had the confirmation email but a few hours later got a cancellation of all 3 items...
I had tried to order the Dyson a couple of days ago but it was out of stock, I think that the website is now showing stock in error.

I placed an order at the weekend and they have charged my credit card with a much higher amount than I authorised when completing the transaction:mad: How can they be allowed to do this? I presume they have removed the discounts but at the moment they are ignoring my emails.

Has anyone manage to get a refund when they do this or should I just cancel the whole order?

I've ordered a large item using my credit card, if it charges the full amount can you cancel the order? Also, I would have thought that legally they can't take more than you authorised can they:confused:

eta - just checked my credit card account and the amount is 'pending'.It is only the amount I authorised, not the full amount. Hope this means the order's going through okay?

It says in my email confirmation that the order can be cancelled in writing
If you wish to cancel your order, you have 7 working days after you receive your goods to give us written notice of cancellation.
Although if this is done by email they may well just ignore it:rolleyes:

Interestingly the small print in the email also states that the order confirmation is actually not an order confirmation:
This is not order confirmation or order acceptance by us. Unless we have notified you that we do not accept your order or you have cancelled it, order acceptance and the completion of the contract between you and us will take place on the despatch to you by us of the order invoice which takes place as your product is shipped from the warehouse.
Are they saying that they don't confirm the price they charge until they actually dispatch the goods. It doesn't seem right to me:confused:

I also think that the transaction is illegal because it is more than I authorised. When I raised this point with my credit card company they said all they can do is send me a dispute form to fill in and return:mad:

Edit: Sorry I've just realised that this has turned into a bit of a Debenhams vent and isn't relevant to the title of this thread. There is a Debenhams thread over on the vent board if anyone wants to continue this theme then we can leave this thread to the Dyson hunters.

I've just had a phone call from Debenhams (heart was in mouth!), giving me a delivery date:j , I have checked my CC again and the amount pending is the same so I don't think they can change this now as this is the amount they have requested:confused:

    I'm still hoping.;)
  • Ordered yesterday, and cancelled about an hour later!! lol Waste of time for me, but did look like a great deal. Never mind, I'm sure there'll be another deal along before long :)
