They do some short courses over the summer Gem .... depends on what you want to study
Unless they've really changed, most OU full courses run from Feb to October. They use empty University Campus' for Summer Schools, so there is a bit of slack time in the summer.

I work in Health Care, full time, it's rewarding but too much pressure at times. I'm lucky in that I can mould my job to suit me, and get good holidays and my boss is extremely accommodating - but having said that, the job seems more about admin and politics and meetings and projects these days than anything else...
I also run my own small business (unrelated to health care), for the past ten years or so.
I'm an adult and I can eat whatever I want whenever I want and I wish someone would take this power from me.

I find I spend big in the summer, and then at Christmas and then spend the rest of the time paying it all off!

I did a big downshift a couple of years ago (saved up for it and everything) and now work part-time in admin for a local council. Started off nursing, then recruitment, then policy then comms and speechwriting. Anyone who can persuade someone to have a painful, humiliating and intimate procedure can be just as persuasive with words! Sadly all that comms stuff has put me right off writing for a living.
This is the year I am going to get off my **** and start a part-time degree. For pleasure only - no desire to climb back up the greasy pole.:);)
    Great thread btw.

  • I am loving this thread and my job is truly dull compared to you lot, I am an informatics manager in a national regulator (I basically work for a quango!). I do lots of work around information policy development and development of ways that we can use information to understand risk.

I used to love my job but am a bit sick of it now - am pondering my next move - just need to get off my lazy backside and sort that CV out.

I work part time for London Underground (weekends only) been there 10 years now!!

My DD started school in Sept, so I'm about to start a teaching assistant course. The plan is to hopefully qualify and get a part time mornings only job.

Maybe i shouldn't go back to college then as thats exactly what i want to do

I think it depends where you live but if i knew before i started the course what i knew when i finished i would have done a different course like admin/ict/typing. I would say research where you are looking to work (area) and speak to the college tutors before you take the plunge.

now I'm an undergraduate who does little study (shame on me) and I work for AQA. I do matched betting on occasions and I frequently perve at sexy guys in the street.
