Ryanair carry on small bag

Without going into the whys and wherefores - I may be flying with Ryanair at some point in the near(ish) future - I know they are very strict on dimensions of under seat bags.

Can anybody recommend a specific make and model which will "legally" get past the staff watchdogs at check in ?

I've seen some online which purport to be approved by Ryanair - however I'm a bit skeptical on such claims.

If you know the size that's allowed, write it down, take a tape measure with you and visit a bag shop....simples.

I flew on Ryan Air last month. I didn't experience any problems at all and just bought a case from Amazon - there were hundreds that were advertised as "compatible" with Ryan Air. It fit in their "case checker" at the gate easily.

The Ryanair case checkers at the gate are slightly bigger than their stated dimensions, so as others have said if you buy a bag within those dimensions (and don't over fill it) you won't have any issues.

I use this - has done me well for quite a few years .

I haven't noticed any checks of bag sizes on my last few Ryanair flights, I think as long as you're not obviously taking the pee it should be fine.

    Underseat bag (default) is 40x30x20cm

If OP pays extra for 'Priority', they can bring another bag to put in the overhead lockers of 55x40x20

Checked bags are limited by weight (usually 20kg) rather than dimensions.

@NoodleDoodleMan just google 'Ryanair bag' or something, plenty around - just be sure to double check the dimensions are correct and the reviews don't raise any issues and you're good to go.

The main problem seems to be people stuffing soft sided bags with as much as they can get in. Doing that will obviously make the bag wider than permitted. Trying to tell staff that the advert said it was within Ryanair (or any other airline) size won't make any difference.

I took a flight for business with Ryanair last weekend (it was the only one at the times I needed, was my first time and to be honest, was pretty good all round - no stag parties drunk on the plane, no fights in the aisles, no fining people because the wheel of their bag was 0.1mm over the allowance, etc. Perhaps this was because I was flying to Cologne and not Ibiza!

One thing I did notice was they checked maybe the first 20 or 30 people in a row when they started boarding. Then suddenly they stopped checking anyone. I would imagine there's some form of KPI or quota the staff have to meet.

Regarding taking the pee, because Priority ticket holders can bring on a bigger bag, it's hard to tell without seeing someones ticket. I only had a small briefcase with me, but I was guilty of glancing round at others and thinking "the size of that carry-on bag! Are they moving there?!". I'd imagine if they had a big backpack and the staff noted they had a non-priority ticket they'd probably get checked.

cabinmax do a decent range to fit Ryanair sizing.

As others have stated though, getting a bag the correct size and overstuffing it can cause it to become too big for the sizer.

I've flown Ryanair lots of times in the last year and I've never been selected for a bag check but I've seen others.

Just make sure you don't overstuff it and you'll be fine

In my own enquries, I've not seen anything that is "approved" by Ryanair. I assume if such a product existed, Ryanair would sell the bag themselves! Suprised they haven't already done this tbh!
