100% this !
Always makes a good watch at the gate when passengers argue that their visabily over stuffed and bulging wheelie bag is okay as the size dimensions when purchased are compatible with the RyanAir published size.

I hadn't thought of that 🙄

Thanks for that - it's exactly the scenario which I assumed was causing grief at airport check in desks.
I was right to be skeptical about Ryanair approving any specific make/model - they don't.
Thanks to those who have identified suitable bags or small cases.

Nothing to stop you wearing your heaviest/bulkiest clothes and stuffing your coat or jacket. And acquiring a bum bag.

This is not about getting as much stuff as possible stuffed into a carry on bag and/or bulked around my person - it's simply finding a small cabin bag that doesn't compromise Ryanair's notoriously strict size limitations.
Don't have a problem including a suitable size main case for the hold.

Osprey daylite carry-on expandable 26+6. Fits all low-cost airelines. It is not cheap, but lifetime guarantee worth it.
I have seen bag checks every time I flew from Gatwick this year …

You haven’t said if you have a budget for purchasing a bag but I’ve recently bought a Samsonite under seat bag which is exactly 40 x 30 x 20.
