Is it opening the app or just redirecting to a web page with the Sounds branding - I find this often happens under Windows. If it is opening the app try the Duckduckgo browser, I have the opposite problem that that doesn't open the app when I click on a link to a programme, it opens the web page,

Which browser are you using? Some people have mentioned Chrome but I don't think you've said?

I've never listen radio, but wondered about this thread.
I use Firefox on my Android and have no issue playing it direct from FF, I did get a pop up about Sounds App but simply closed that.
Am I missing the point, is it BBC Sounds or the App is the issue?

I've just tried clicking on your link on desktop (Firefox on Win11).

With scripting disabled it leaves me at the link you've posted. But as soon as I enable scripting on bbci.co.uk I get redirected to:

Again, this is on desktop not mobile. So it's not looking like a "mobile must use the app" problem, it's a "your desktop browser is suppressing bbci.co.uk scripting" problem.

You are missing out! Like @maman, I am a big fan of BBC radio - and access the app multiple times a day.

The OP could always try a smartspeaker as an alternative if they have one?

Does this mean that if I disable scripting on the phone I can stop it re-directing to Sounds?

Looking at the phone Settings, I couldn't see how to do the disable.

It is nothing to do with the phone itself but the browser you are using. You would need to disbale scripting in the browser.
