Unrecognised charge pending on Virgin card?!
I have a Virgin card with a 0% balance of £7,000 on it; I don’t often spend on it. Today I’ve looked at my account and there is a charge of £500 pending on it - I can’t see what it is for but can see it has taken the total owing to £7.5k
How do I go about sorting this? I’m really panicking! The card is in my possession; I definitely haven’t spent £500 on anything recently and have no recurring subscriptions or anything on it. Should I cancel the card straight away? There is a freeze option in the app. Yikes I am all of a dither; please can someone advise?

Call Virgin Money. That's your first step to sorting it out!

Freeze the card and call virgin. Your account should give some idea of the company but virgin will be able to see transaction in full

Thank you! Have put a temporary freeze on it in the app (which was quite straightforward); Virgin say they can’t see any detail until the merchant finalises the transaction (? I think) but didn’t seem unduly concerned. The payment is still there, pending

If you are comfortable you could share the description - maybe someone will recognise it.

Sounds like you spoke to call center & not fraud team, who would be able to check security system & get further details.
If you know that you have not spent £500, go back get card stopped & replaced.

it may never actually arrive on your card - I’ve had pending charges on a card that never materialised

They as an organisation can, the front line member of staff may not be able to.
I had something vaguely similar, needed to send some money to someone who had dropped of my regular payees for having not paid them for a while but could see the older transactions too them. The Barclays front line guy couldn't see anything more than I could but he spoke to some other department which got their account number and sort code from that transactions.
Did you phone the normal number or the fraud team?
