Fine if the meter number matches that on the bill, but that on its own still doesn't prove it really is the meter supplying the OP's flat.

Another possibility is that the OP has moved in relatively recently, has inherited a key or card from the previous occupier, and it has debt on it.

Until the OP comes back with all the requested info, we're just blind men feeling the elephant...

Not clear if it is pay as you go meter in the sense that they are topping up the meter or if they are just paying the bill in arrears without a direct debit. Youtube just generated a video (auto play when I was on my cross-trainer) where an electrician investigated a very high bill in an apartment and found that the wrong meter was being read… although in that case it would have been an easy check for the owner because there was an isolator switch after the meter.

Judging by their website, EON seem fairly confident that their Next flex Smart PAYG tariff is a pre-pay one. Assuming the OP's app (?) which they have screenshot into the thread is an accurate depiction of their tariff, there isn't any reason to think that in fact they have a standard credit account and are paying on receipt of bill.

Well, we wasted our time with this one. The OP joined in the morning, didn't provide most of the info requested and never returned after lunch. 🙄
