    I used the good weather to tackle the front flowerbeds. I'm still not sure that I've sorted the one by gate.

    Your pic of front flower beds, those two shrubs next to the fence, with large brown seed heads on top are Hydrangeas, and now is the time to prune them

    However, beware, there are different types and it's not just chop / hack them back, you will need to DYOR, Youtube maybe good start

    If you get it wrong the plant will live, but no flowers this year

    FWIW yours look like bog standard lace cap or mop heads so strait forwards with a bit of attention to detail

    The little stand of leaves up by the gate hinge is a tree seedling (maple or sycamore). I would whip that out asap!

    The little blue flowers on the bottom left are forget me nots - if you can, leave them to seed and you will have free plants this time next year. 😊

    Still looks very dry and a bit starved. Have you mulched it? Then it’s just a case of seeing what the front plants do in a few weeks’ time.

    Yup. If you look at the base of the stem close to the ground I suspect you will find it’s already quite woody …

    I'll remove that today. Any advice on where to start with this bed?

    Looks like you’ve already started! 😊👏

    Keep going and then ask specific questions as you find things in the bed. It’s quite hard to answer atm as the detail in the image isn’t great. I’m a bit sceptical about the sticky up stick to the left of the hydrangea, I think that might be a goats tree which is an irritating weed. Try and get a close up image of the leaves and we should be able to work it out.

    As for the rest of it, what effect are you aiming for?

    Remove, today, the dandelion "clocks" before the seeds blow everywhere. Dig up the remaining dandelions before they go the same way

    If you like Forget me not, the blue flowers, leave them to self seed, if you hate them, pull them up now

    DYOR but the hydrangea bush at the back, near wall & against the fence needs dead heads removing, but do look on YT for "how to" first, or you will lose this years flowers

    Can't properly see what the plants are near the wall, one with long stems & a bushy one. Can you take closer shots, so we can see leaves & buds etc

    The edge is where I am working. Not sure what these are or what to do with them;
