So when the leaves start to come up they are red and quite pointed. That has always been the first sign for me after winter dormancy.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
And that's a good time to attack them with weedkiller.
Until the dormant plant produces leaves it's impossible to tell what they are. ChatGpt could be right. I guess you'll find out

I am pretty sure that is not JKW.

20 years dealing with knotweed and it doesn't look like that. JK rhizome is bright orange, almost carrot like.

should I cut the already dug up bits in half to see if it’s orange or like the light yellow colour in the photos I uploaded
or dig a test spot or pull some out of the ground?
Any pointers for me tomorrow while have a look to see if it’s is JKW PLEASE?0 -
Look it up on the RHS (The Royal Horticultural Society) website. It has pictures of the common stages and a balanced approach to dealing with it.
There should be a declaration somewhere on the buyers pack, where the owner has been asked about knotweed.

Thank you for your reply, We’re not at that stage yet. And there won’t be a buyers pack with this sale.
