I phoned up, they checked, said that it excluded accounts switched from Lloyds Banking Group.

Drat, I have just (in the last week) received the £200 switch cash for the Clubs Lloyds switch - which on paper renders me ineligible for this offer (which I would otherwise qualify for).

Does anyone know whether switching a joint account might qualify? I.e. I received £200 switch cash for a solo account, and then a further £500 for switching a joint account?

It looks like Lloyds Premier is only available as a solo account, so have missed out on this. Oh well, have already had the £400 Barclays Premier - and should be receiving the £400 HSBC Premier switch cash (on top of my Club Lloys cash, so have done well over the past six months…

I am a bit puzzled as to what you are trying to achieve now by downgrading the existing Premier and upgrading another account to Premier. It says explicitly that if

    • You switch to any existing Lloyds Premier account, or you change your existing Lloyds Current Account to a Lloyds Premier Account.

you are not eligible for the current offer…. Perhaps I am missing something?

This was in relation to the previous Club Lloyds switch offer. At the time the offer was announced I already held a Premier account. As you can only hold one CL/Premier account at a time, I had to downgrade my original Premier account to Classic in order to then be able to open a brand new CL account as required for the offer.

I ultimately wanted my original account to remain as Premier, so after jumping through the hoops of qualifying and being paid the £250 switch incentive for opening a new CL account, I then chose to downgrade my new CL to Classic so I could re-upgrade my original account back to Premier. Hope that makes sense?

Glad I held off on the January offer now, I had a hunch the exclusion on Premier meant a better offer was coming for that one.

Present situation is my wife and I each have a Club Lloyds sole account, and a joint Club Lloyds between us. We'll downgrade our sole Club Lloyds accounts to Classic, and then open new Premiers.

Can anyone confirm if the joint Club Lloyds will also need to be downgraded?

You don't need to have used it with chip and PIN but I would definitely try to use it in the UK before going. I setup mine for Gpay and almost immediately tried a transaction for £75 which was declined. I got a text shortly afterwards to check if it was me which then enabled the card for a further payment that worked ok. It would have been much more hassle to try to sort that outside of the UK.

Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.

Interesting that there is nothing in their T&Cs that says that. Way round it do a switch from your LBG account to another bank and switch it back to Lloyds. Plenty of time on the offer timescales.

I guess it boils down to what does "another bank" means in the terms. Given its one banking licence its why I queried it. At the moment I want to keep all my non LBG accounts. Not really wanting to have two hits on my credit file at the moment so going to give this one a miss.
