Lloyds switch for up to £500, 24 February to 30 April 2026

So I've just received a snot-o-gram text from HSBC telling me my HSBC credit card is in arrears (I'm NEVER in arrears).
Checked and apparently the direct debit couldn't be taken on the 24th (the original switch date to Lloyds was the 20th, but due to their internal error, they made me re-apply for the switch with a new date of the 29th).
I logged into my Lloyds account, and indeed none of the direct debits are set up which I expected as the switch is now scheduled for the 29th so hasn't occurred yet.
However, I also just logged into my Santander account (the one with the 3 direct debits required for the switch incentive), and it is now showing that I have ZERO direct debits set up.
I will call Lloyds of course, but my guess is that they have started moving the direct debits and then cocked something up, which is why they messaged me and asked me to re-apply the switch, and now I have a late payment on record for the first time in about 20 years. 🤦♂️

Formal complaint as the CASS is meant to stop this, get it removed

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

I'm also in the first switch didn't work club, the second switch has completed and I've got my DDs showing at Lloyds. However, I've noticed my credit cards are still showing my old bank's details. My AMEX says the changes I've made won't take effect until the next statement (and I've got a payment due soon). I'll have to see what happens as the AMEX bill is large and I don't want to end up in credit there by making a manual payment.

Spend £100 on your debit card within 35 days of opening your account. Cash withdrawals and Financial Services Transactions are excluded. For a full list of excluded transactions see Key Exclusions below
If I buy a £100 supermarket gift card, would it count towards the £100 purchase requirement to get the switch incentive? (£200)

I believe it’s £200 for the premier promotion. Might be £100 for the regular account though?
I just gave my debit card to my wife to use for the weekly shop etc, she managed to burn through the £200 requirement in about 48 hours lol. 😁

There was some discussion on this a few pages back. Some gift card purchases can get treated as cash/financial transactions, especially if you purchase them online from a dedicated gift card shop. Safest bet would be to use it for actual spending (eg. bills, groceries, petrol, etc).

If you buy them with shopping you might get away with it, if you buy just the voucher it can be treated as cash

I bought gift cards from TCB and the transaction's category is "Computer Software Stores" (rather than finance).

As you say, it's how the sale of gift cards is reported back to the card provider by a particular vendor. Eg Everup gift card purchases are reported as "Misc and speciality retail stores".

So is "Misc and speciality retail stores" okay for the debit card spend? Some of my physical item purchases show as this in the Lloyds app. I'm guessing / hoping so.
