New switching offer from RBS/Natwest

https://www.rbs.co.uk/current-accounts/switch-your-bank-account-to-rbs.html

https://www.natwest.com/current-accounts/switch-your-banking-to-natwest.html

Looks to be the same terms for both

How to get £150

1. Open a current account and switch to us

  • Apply for a Select or Reward account and request to switch an account with another bank to us using the Current Account Switch Service by 28 May 2026.
  • Your switch must be completed by 16 June 2026.

2. Within 60 days of switching

  • Pay in £1,250 - This can be made of multiple payments and must remain in the account for 24 hours.
  • Log in to our mobile app - This can be done on any device that supports the Royal Bank mobile banking app.

3. You're all set

When you've met these conditions, we'll pay £150 into your eligible account within 30 days.

How to unlock our bonus rate

Once you've opened your current account, you must open a Digital Regular Saver by 16 June 2026. To be eligible for the bonus rate, you need to complete your switch to us.

  • 7% AER
This includes 5.25% / 5.13% AER/Gross p.a. (variable) on balances up to £5k plus a conditional bonus of 1.75% AER (fixed) for 12 months. Interest paid monthly.
  • 1.00% AER/Gross p.a. (variable) on balances over £5,000.

There’s no need to wait for your £150 incentive to be paid.

Why choose a Digital Regular Saver?

  • Save between £1 and £150 each month - you're in control.
  • Instant access to your savings whenever you need them.
  • Perfect for building regular savings habits, whether you're starting small or levelling up your savings goals.

Previous customers are eligible as long as you have no current or savings account as of the 17th Feb and have not had a switching bonus in the past

Then you are excluded, you cannot have an active current or savings account with them as of the 17th Feb. If you have had one in the past and no longer have one or you have any of their other products only, then the options are correct.

I have had switch cash from them before so not elegible for the switch bonus but can I still get on both, RBS/Natwest, the bonus rate for the regular savers?

Seems a bit bonkers that I need to open a new current account, switch and reopen regular savers. Both regular savers are currently at 0 balance so could close and reopen if needed without problem.

7% in return for account closures and reopening and getting 2 hard searches and having to set up direct debits with Plum and Moneybox again for new reward current accounts. Quite a lot of work to get the bonus and you need to make a ot of round up transactions to fill up quickly so it's actually worth it.

Getting rewarded for lloyalty really seems to be a relict of the past replaced by getting a kick in the backside instead.

… I worked out yesterday that the bonus 1.75% would give you an extra £17.06 over the year for each account if just the 'straight' £150 were paid in each month (if my maths is correct).

Now if the round-up tactic were used as well to achieve £5,000 then the max interest would be £350 per account [edit] of which £87.50 would be the bonus interest …

    • enable 5x multiplier
    • 99 transactions per day (max)
    • £4,900 in 10 days
    • theoretically
    • haha
    • could be security triggers and merchant restrictions

    "£4,900 in 10 days" - that's a lot of carrots. 🤣

Any ideas on how stringent they are regarding not being eligible if you have ever received a switch offer before?

Having done so many switches I use the closed accounts on my credit report to keep track but they only go back 7 years. I know I’ve done a switch offer before with NatWest but no account showing so must have been more than 7 years ago. Wishful thinking that they won’t have a record of this?

I guess I'm out of luck as I have a Digital Saver but no current account!
