Mettle business account fraudulent transactions

Today I received a series of notifications from my Mettle app, business account, for a series of transactions which I did not do. I clicked 'I do not authorise this transaction' and then I immediately cancelled the card, then I called the fraud number (which is the customer service number), reported the transaction and was told to report through the app. Did that and all I got was a series of AI bot replies, basically saying someone will reply at some point during business hours. They are now closed for the weekend and the fraudsters keeps trying with more payments for different stuff …I receive the notifications, which are now automatically 'declined' as the card is invalid. I have asked to stop the pending payments going through but they still showing as pending. It is for about £2000 so I am very concerned I never use the card, I rarely use the account for online payments, mostly is direct debits, so I am not sure how this could have happened. How likely am I to lose the amount?

Thank you for any advice.

Are the unauthorised transactions card transactions?

Do you still have the card?

I do have the card. I never used the physical card, I imagine they were online transactions

Pending transactions can not be stopped. Card payments are a guaranteed form of payment.

Once you speak to one of their fraud team, they will sort it out & get you refunded.

  • My wife has had a Mettle business account for a couple of years and doesn't use the card she has. At 01:35 this morning she had a fraudulent card transaction of £7.40 (name of Shippello). She reported it, blocked her card and transferred the money out of her account. Now someone's tried to spend £11.11 at Windsurf - declined. After seeing your post I'm wondering if Mettle have been hacked or someone's leaked their card details. I hope they'll reimburse your large transaction okay - I've heard banks are getting better at reimbursing fraudulent transactions now.

Yes, I had random transactions from a couple of clothing shops, furnitures etc - all in UK! Mettle are closed until tomorrow, I've tried to report it to Report Fraud but they are closed till tomorrow, in the meantime the 'pending' amounts are no longer pending but gone.

I have also had 2 x transaction leave my account Sunday 08/02/26, 1.30am for Triviva £7.40 and then at 2.30pm for £11.11 at windsurf. Luckily I blocked the card so the second payment hasn’t been taken but they’ve also added the card to Apple Pay which is worrying because you need to authorise that via the bank. I have a new card coming out and mettle is open 9-5 on the weekends. I’m waiting to hear back from the fraud team too. Clearly Mettle itself has been hacked or something

Hi, this has also happened to me today, I had three transactions come out of my account, one the same as you ,mentioned Windsurf of a total of £11.11, I blocked the card immediately after noticing the transaction, 5 minutes later another payment from windsurf tried coming out my account. I have phoned the helpline and they told me this has been happening all weekend, this is a very serious data breach if it appears to be mettles (NatWest's) information that's has been compromised.

I had a transaction from shipello for £7.40 leave my account yesterday & locked my card immediately. I’ve had a payment to cursor ai powered ide New York for £14.81 declined today. Have reported both to mettle via the chat on app but not heard anything yet. Definitely a breach at their end if it’s the same transactions for different people.

No is the simple answer to being hacked. Or leaked.

People have just used their cards, & their details takes, which can be obtained by a fraudster anywhere they are used either at a physical store or online.
