Amazon debit card unknown transaction

I don't know how it was charged to my partner's card.
Amazon said it wasn't done through their system and to contact her bank for all the info.

Getting somewhere now :) - so that means the old card is stored on an old login for a site, or for PayPal etc which hasn't declined as the card company has linked the old to the new and the process for check out used must have been limited tech (aka not using 2FA or App approval for the payment).
Thing is, if amazon havent done anything wrong (which is seems they haven't) then you are going to find either they take the money back, or they block you from buying on Amazon.
I would keep digging trying to work out where it may have come from, I am not sure data protection applies if its named and addressed to you (which is the reason why I've been saying all along its likely this is bought, maybe by accident, by someone you know.

Well that either is saying a fraudster used the card details (possible) as they get sold online many times, which means many are no longer cards. But the issue here, is why to your address. They would set up a fake account, or they have hacked your account.
Or that your partner had used their card details on someone else's account previously, with your address & they had made the purchase. Which is my best guess. Still if bank are treating as fraud, it is possible Amazon will supply bank with details & bank will query with you. 👍

The rep said it was not my account the placed the order so that was why there's not order on my account and no SMS or email notifications.
I think it was you(sorry if I am wrong) that said Amazon delivery for other companies so that maybe why no order number on my Amazon account.

Have you opened it yet? If not, do so as it may have an invoice showing where it came from.
You will not get in to any trouble opening it as it is addressed to you.

Opened the paper Amazon package but not the sealed black bag that the mattress protector is in. No paperwork inside but Amazon haven't included invoice/despatch notes for a few years now have they?

Sorry, I misunderstood. I thought you said you hadn’t opened the package.

She is certain that she has never used any other Amazon account apart from mine and I have control over that.
We were looking at mattress protectors at beginning of January and placed an order which was paid using her credit card and delivered next day and I got SMS and email notifications. No other orders placed until sub save which was delivered 2/2/26.
I wished I had a way of saving the chat from Amazon as I could check what was said for certain.

FWIW I just had a reminder of Amazon are slowly destroying us. I returned an item costing a few quid to Amazon. It was collected by Royal mail, the guy scanned it and I got my refund like a day later. Now a month later Amazon have charged me again, presumably because something went wrong with the Royal mail delivery back to their Warehouse. The hassle to get my few quid back was obscene. Still going on now. Any normal sensible person would have given up and written off the few quid.
A reminder that Amazon might have a friendly face but ultimately they won't be happy until they've taken everything we ever valued about life.
