Progressive on desktop, WhatsApp on desktop, easy (although compromises 2FA somewhat).

And I know the Salesforce Authenticator is available for desktop, but I couldn't get the thing to work.

Just to be contrary, I use the Bitwarden Authenticator.

    Principality Christmas 2026 maturity

Mine matured today and was in my Lloyds before 11am, I was expecting £1800 plus a bit of interest as I'd forgotten I'd made a 13th payment. It was a nice surprise to see £2020.42 !!! This means I got £70.42 interest and that a thirteenth payment was allowed.

Passbook and welcome letter received today from my cheque and application form sent last Friday.

There was a form enclosed to supply a telephone only contact password, Filled in, scanned to pdf, emailed back to them as requested. Acknowledgment back from H&R within the hour saying applied to account details.

Plain text email (or attachment) containing a password to allow telephone instruction against the account?

Not the most secure method to exchange confidential data.

    But then again - passbooks.

£70.45 for me. 1st payment on 23rd (or could be 24th) and 12 consecutive payments on 1st of each month.

Exactly the same for me - £70.45 of interest added. Opened on 23rd and paid full monthly deposit via a manual payment on the 1st of each month.

So I "lost" 80p of interest compared to some. 7 days by paying by standing order (no payments on weekends/bank holdays): 19p and 23 days by not making the 13th payment: 61p. Of course I was still getting 5% for the money in Cahoot SDS so my actual loss was only 1.5% not 6.5%, so 18p lost, 15p after tax. At the minimum wage that's 42 seconds. Anyway it's all good fun.

What I do, is I set a standing order up, and if the 1st falls on a non-working day, I just make a manual payment and reschedule the standing order for for 1st of the next month.

That way if I don't have time to faff making manual payments, the standing order will still go through on the first working day

I consider myself to be a male feminist. Is that allowed?

Hadn't come across this before - so good spot!

    Tembo Regular Saver - @Bridlington1

Sadly for existing Tembo customers the rate is 3% (var). For newbies to Tembo there's an extra 5% fixed bonus paid at the end of the first year.

    • £250 monthly deposit limit (min payment is £10 by transfer; £25 by direct debit; multiple payments allowed).
    • No minimum monthly deposit; no carry-forwards of prior unused monthly allowances.
    • Earns 3% var (existing customers) or 3% var + 5% fixed (new customers); Tembo will give 14d written notice of any change.
    • Interest is earnt daily and paid into the account on the 8th working day of each month (5% bonus paid after one year).
    • Withdrawals are permitted.

In terms of experience with Tembo, I've had ISAs and other savings accounts with them and generally found it all smooth. I appreciate ISA transfers may be a different story, plus there were sloppy errors in their T&Cs for the HomeSaver account but not detrimental to customers. They made a splash chasing the top of market Cash LISA rate (in my view to encourage cross-selling of their mortgage broking services).
