Lloyds still shows the following conditions for opening:

You can open this account if you:

are 18 or over and a UK resident
have a Club Lloyds or Lloyds Premier current account and have not already opened a Club Lloyds Monthly Saver in the last 12 months.

That excludes me, and presumably a lot of other people. I guess they may have a lot of applications for the non-club version, as it was previously only 5.25%, but a lot of Club Lloyds customers will already have the 6.25% account (unless it was below their threshold, or they weren't aware of it?)

We'll see what happens today, if they have loads of people complaining then something may change, and I'm sure there'll be much discussion on here. I'm going to wait until it all dies down.

I managed to open Halifax, despite having closed my regular saver in the last couple of months. But I believe Halifax doesn't have the same restrictions as Lloyds. It still has slightly different terms, e.g. no access unless you close the account.

Thank you. How do you close the Halifax RS? Google says you click the three dots and it's an option there, but I don't see it...

Do you have to close the Everyday Saver first? I see an option to close that account at least.

Halifax: “renewed” my old 5.5% RS yesterday; opened and funded 8% this morning

I "renewed" the account (strange term, it means to transform it instantly into another account type with the same Account No/Sort Code). Also adds to-date interest.

Only available as an option online, not on the app.

you “renew” it in online banking (not poss in app). Might have to log out / in to see the change

    Halifax RS

Had a RS opened in November and effectively closed on 22nd May (changed to Everyday Saver). Opened new one this morning in the App……took seconds. Immediately recognised with COP from Barclays and funded.

Managed to renew Halifax and open a new 8% Halifax 5 mins ago.

    Will it work with Lloyds?

    Halifax

I was thinking I would open the Halifax one this morning as I already have the others. I am now a bit unsure though.

I am worried that opening a halifax could prevent me getting a new Club Lloyds when mine matures, as at some point Halifax accounts might be changed to Lloyds accounts and then I will already have a Lloyds opened in the last 12 months?

Does anyone have any ideas on this? Is my worry valid or would that scenario be unlikely?

Would I be better just to open the Halifax one now and hope it doesnt cause a problem with Club Lloyds, and if it does at least I have benefitted from the Halifax? Or is the higher limit of £400 worth holding off for just in case?
