I can always be confident that:-
• Anything that's allegedly 'fairer' or 'simpler' will cost me more and/or be to my disadvantage.
• Any change in taxation will almost always be upwards.

Bringing this back to smart meters, but my home battery is saving me £800+ a year. It has travelled zero miles, so has not and will not incur the 3p/mile levy, and wouldn’t be possible without my smart meter.
