Need new laptop and printer needed

They are both 18yo so I've had my money's worth out of them. I don't use my printer that often but after my laptop decided it couldn't communicate by wifi with the printer I used a direct cable when I needed to print, but after that worked ok for a few years now I get a 'the printer is not responding' message. I've tried every possible solution to no avail and as my laptop is living on borrowed time anyway due to not being upgradeable to windows 11 I think it's best to replace both at once. I use my laptop for general browsing, emails, documents, listening to music and watching tv.so just a general workhorse is needed.I currently have an Acer 15.6" screen with following specs.
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-5005U CPU @ 2.00GHz 2.00 GHz
Installed RAM 8.00 GB
Storage 1.82 TB HDD ST2000LM003 HN-M201RAD
Graphics Card Intel(R) HD Graphics 5500 (128 MB)
System Type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
Installed RAM 8.00 GB
Storage 1.82 TB HDD ST2000LM003 HN-M201RAD
Graphics Card Intel(R) HD Graphics 5500 (128 MB)
System Type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
After 18 years do these specs seem outdated and if so what should I be looking for ? At first glance it looks like prices aren't too different to 18 yrs ago TBH so I'd expect not to have to pay more than £500

Those specs are very outdated. A 5th-gen i3, HDD and HD 5500 graphics are over a decade old and will feel slow now. For £500 you should be looking for at least an Intel i5 or Ryzen 5, 16GB RAM and a 512GB SSD. Windows 11 compatibility is essential. For printers, avoid cheap inkjets. A basic mono laser will be cheaper long-term and far less hassle.
No doubt someone will suggest installing Linux Mint to keep the laptop tottering on.3 -
They are 'outdated' but then the OP doesn't state what they use it for, if it still does everything they need then there's no need to 'upgrade'.Vitor said:Those specs are very outdated. As for printer, I finally lost patience with my Epson SX235SW which was used very infrequently, uninstalling and reinstalling drivers every time as it lost the WiFi connection, using cheap replacement inks didn't help with constant errors and it's now decided to print as if it's smashed out of it's little processor on Buckfast.
I've got a HP Laserjet M209dw which is a pure mono duplex printer. It's really quick and so far connects wirelessly with no issues. £90 when I bought it 5 days ago, it's now £100.

Not quite this model (currently £129) but similar:Mine is this model (currently £169) with the sheet feeder, but that might be a step too far:I'm very happy with the printing and scanning functions.
