Newish car with wrong number plates

It's maybe more common than you think. Father had similar but his plates it was the numbers that were different X123ABC and X124ABC and again took almost a year before he realised. Unlike this example there must have been another vehicle driving round with the other half of the set and whoever fitted them had put one on wrong car.ritz55 said:I would contact the dealer and I’m sure they will sort it out. Seems a very strange mistake to make.

This happens from time to time. There are occasional threads that crop about it in these forums.plumb1_2 said:there is a front and rear reg plates are different, the first letter, both made and fitted by the same garage
The correct reg is GF ****** , but the rear plate is DF*******0 -
I really have trouble getting the number of my current car correct, unprompted (I recognise it when I see it).matt_drummer said:
I can't begin to comprehend how anybody doesn't know the registration number of their carplumb1_2 said:
I don’t think most check their cars for lights etc, as there’s so many warning lights if there’s a fault, just a casual glance when approaching.
I can however easily remember the registrations of many previous cars, back to the one my parents replaced in 1981...1 -
How do you know it left the garage like that?plumb1_2 said:Hi all
i bought a 10 month old car from a vw main dealer last April
The dealership about 50 miles away
Anyway I just noticed there is a front and rear reg plates are different, the first letter, both made and fitted by the same garage
The correct reg is GF ****** , but the rear plate is DF*******
Should they correct this error, ie make a new correct one and post it to me. The car still has 2 yrs warranty on it
is it worth the hassle for £20 ?No wonder I don’t get speeding tickets 😊

Yeah, they really should sort that it’s their mistake. I’d give them a quick call and ask them to post out a correct plate, shouldn’t be a big deal. Probably worth fixing too, before it causes any awkward questions later…0

I can however easily remember the registrations of many previous cars, back to the one my parents replaced in 1981...Me too!The registration number really isn't important. It doesn't affect the running of the car or safety. 50 years ago they seemed important and I remember those, but not now.I would notice if someone stole the 'plates when I walk round the car checking for bottles wedged under the tyres before I move it. The registration is vaguely familiar when I look at it, but I can't remember it 5 minutes later. On a car park that asks for the registration I either look at the car or I have a card with them written on inside my wallet.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

Didn’t check the rear lights as there was no white painted wall behind me, but gave a tyre a good kick, all fine. Off we go.A thankyou is payment enough .0 -
