Wi-Fi security conundrum

I use a Fritz box router. It has wpa3 enabled for WiFi. Logging into the router I can see that my iPad is connected with wpa3.

So, why is the iPad warning me about weak security and telling me that it has a wep connection?
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

If it's only the iPad that is complaining then check the connection setting on the iPad and change it to wpa3 if needed?

I don’t think it’s possible to do that?

Can you disable WEP on your router and then see if your iPad loses connectivity?

The router doesn’t support WEP. :)

So, I can’t switch it off.

Apple seem to be becoming more strict.  I had WPA/WPA2-TKIP on my Virgin Hub 3 Router that a visitors iPhone didn't like, so I disable wifi on that and use separate access points now.

Have you tried 'forgetting' the wifi network on your iPad, restarting the iPad, and then reconnecting to the network?

Check your router hasn’t got WPA support on, also make sure it doesn’t use TKIP rather than AES.

I have installed iPadOS 26 and the WiFi connection is suddenly no longer weak security. So, it was obviously the OS getting its knickers in a twist over nothing.

I preferred the old version of the os. I've been through the settings trying to disable as much of the new interface as possible, but it still looks horrible.
