The "M15" in a box printed on your meter shows that it was manufactured in 2015. The serial number is visible thete too, and should be quoted on your bills.

It's quite likely that you've had the same meter since 2015 or 2016.

I'll try to edit this post to be slightly more concise once I get the hang of the new thingy.

So the promised call back didn't happen. I rang the metering team. Must have got the newbie. Told him to ask a manager again and again. Eventually after an hour of telling me loads of BS, he "discovered" that someone had booked a survey next Tuesday, despite vehemently denying that relocating a meter could even be done, sigh...... So my psychic ability had let me down, obviously. Fingers crossed that a) they turn up and b) they either move it inside ( which I know means I'll be liable for leaks) or b they agree to fit a proper smart meter that, presumably, I can read via an app. Then I can make a final DD to clear the debt and go back to billing in arrears.....with monthly meter readings

As expected, no one arrived, so think I will make a complaint now, promised a call back, didn't happen, promised a meter survey today, didn't happen, they could not organise the proverbial p1ss up in a brewery......

Our water bill is £68 a month. We used to pay something like £35-40 a month. We actually use less water now that our children are at university, so its completely baffling. We are also on a meter. I just clicked a setting on Anglian Water's website to track it hourly, so it will be interesting to see what it comes back with. I know exactly what water is being used as I work from home…

Latest version, ( we'll done if you've read this far)

No explanation for no show yesterday

Promised meter will be resited within 60 working days (8th May)

However having been told variously that it was

    a) impossible

    Or

    B) required a full site survey at a cost of £72

C there was no guarantee they could do it

I'm not holding my breath. The mantra seems to be " promise anything to get rid of the customer and fail to deliver"

Not holding my breath, back in May with an update, will have had a hip replacement by then.....

My meter isn't sophisticated, but the type of meter I want is like yours so I can keep track, only got one at home now, so higher usage is weird....

I unfortunately think our readings are probably accurate. What I object to is the gross inaccuracies when TW estimate future usage to calculate DD payments. We either owe a lot of money or are owed lots of money. It's never right, unlike gas and electric which are spot on. If I can submit monthly readings that "should" mean more accurate DDs. Only 60 working days to wait..…

We had a similar issue with TW. We had smart meters installed 5 years ago and opted to submit monthly meter readings and have a bill generated to which TW agreed. What we weren't told, and have since discovered, is that although we have been submitting monthly meter readings, we aren’t actually billed per month! Furthermore, the customer advisor informed me that TW takes their own meter readings every 6 months cycle which can result in 2 bills being generated in any particular 6 month period. This happened today. We paid February's bill last week but got a bill today (£45.61) as part of their 6 monthly cycle meter reading system. We are confused and don't understand how TW accepts monthly meter readings, produces a bill every month but we’re not actually paying for the month! The CS suggested to avoid any further confusion/inconvenience that TW engineers could read our smart meters (remotely) every month, we declined. He did say they will still take their own meter readings in September (next 6 month cycle) which will result in us being billed twice again in the same month!

Thanks juicybrat, seems my cunning plan may not work then. What I'm trying to avoid is TW basing their direct debits on wildly inaccurate future projections, so hoping that being billed in arrears means we will only pay what we owe, watch this space....
