There's never enough information.JayD said:We don't have enough information! How long have you had the car?Has it lost or gained in value? What condition is it currently in?Do you need the money? if so, what do you need the money for?If you don't need the money, what is your main reason for selling and what do you intend to spend the money on?Finally ..WHY DON'T THESE PEOPLE TALK TO THEIR FRIENDS AND FAMILY MEMBERS ABOUT THE PROBLEMS THEY HAVE WHICH INVOLVE THEM???
That's the idea of MMD.
None of your questions will be answered.
And oh... wouldn't it be great if people did discuss stuff with people in RL.
Instead of asking random strangers on t'interweb.0 -
What a lovely present and you've enjoyed it as they intended.
Do tell them and why but have a replacement in mind (if it's not because of personal finances) and buy something else that's 'a present from them '
Perhaps buy a toy car version to keep as a reminder too.I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!
viral kindness .....kindness is contageous pass it on
The only normal people you know are the ones you don’t know very well

No, why on earth would you? They give you a gift and you try and give it back? My mother does this to me and it feels very rude.1

What a lovely gift that seems to have lasted quite a while. It's a great idea to tell the kids that you'd like to sell it, and explain why, surely as it was such a thoughtful gift, and well-used they will understand. Gifts are given out of love and friendship and we give and receive them unconditionally. Once it was given it became yours and is yours to keep or sell as you wish. The nature of your 'change of circumstance' might be the influence for your decision and it would only be fair that they knew that. Using some of the proceeds from the sale of the car for the benefit of all your family might smooth the situation over, if someone feels a little bemused by your choice

IMO only
Tell them you love the car but that because [reasons inserted here] you need to raise funds. Ask them how they feel about it given that it was an amazing, loving and caring thing to do, a wonderful gift that you are gutted to have to think of selling. Insert other things you have thought of selling and reasons why they are not a viable option.
