Thank you kindly for the well wishes 😊. Little one is having a lovely birthday and has been especially good at school today. I’m making a picky bits dinner upon request and have some mini cupcakes to put in the shape of a 6 - the special cake is being saved for the party.

Work was relentless today but we got through it. Is it too early to be wishing for the weekend?!

I thought so ha! Although makes for a pretty miserable mid-week if already feeling a bit frazzled. We have staffing issues today so going to be full on I think. I’m trying to stay positive as it makes such a difference but I’m not really feeling it 🙈.

After today, I have two days of conference style training so have a lot to pack in to get through all that needs doing before the end of the week.

That was a loooong day. But it was pretty productive and I ticked lots off my list.

Party preparations are almost ready we just need to do the big food shop to finish off. I will be so relieved when it’s over. I love birthday gatherings usually but trying to be sociable with strangers is definitely not my bag. Shall need to put my work smile on and get on with it. I think littlest is going to be in his element though. He lost his first tooth today, and so the super cute era comes to an end 😂 feels very symbolic.

Worked too much today to spend any money, but I’ve sold an item on Vinted so will need to remember to package and post that tomorrow. I’m likely to forget with how tired I am tonight so I’m hoping this diary entry nudges my memory.

I’ve had my payslip through and my AVCs that were due to start have not been taken out. I’ll need to find the email and attempt to get it sorted for next month. In other news, £13 worth of M&S rewards went onto my account today and we are looking forward to a free sweet treat from Lidl with our thermos cups tomorrow - car date 😂.

The shopping is done now, and we’re officially spent out. With the extra birthdays we have gone £35 over budget. Mr D and I tallied up how much littlest’s birthday party has cost in total and both agreed this won’t be repeated. Even with careful planning and shopping around, with Mum picking up some of the bits, it’s been ridiculously expensive in comparison to our usual birthday celebrations. We always have a lovely time for special days and this all seems unnecessary from a spending point of view. It’s what littlest wanted more than anything though so we will make it as enjoyable as possible for him, and know that he’s had one.

I’ve got a smidge longer to get ready today as am on some training. I thought I might wake up feeling rotten today as started with some cold symptoms yesterday afternoon. Feel okay at the moment thankfully!

…oh and I’m so tempted to read the final few chapters of A Court of Silver Flames but will restrain myself and save them for tonight.

I’ve done barely anything except read in my spare minutes since I started the series. When out in different supermarkets with Mr D yesterday, the bookshelves caught my eyes and there’s a few new titles out that I’ve added to my TBR list. Those ones I’ll hope to get at the library though.

I hope the little one enjoys his party especially as it cost so much. I well remember expensive parties at soft play venues, Pizza Hut and Maccy Ds when my two were little.

I also hope your cold doesn't develop into anything worse. I've only just managed to shake mine off after two weeks. It started with not feeling great then brewed for a few days before it hit its peak.

Thanks @Sun_Addict I’m feeling fine again now so hopefully it has just passed me by 🤞.

Really disappointed that the cake we ordered has arrived in bad condition. It was left on the doorstep on its side! The courier even photographed it like that as they left it dumped on the doorstep. The box is damaged and the cake is soaking wet with the base decorations smeared all over, as the ice packs/dry ice packs have all popped. I messaged the cake store (quite a large well known brand) immediately and they offered an apology and a £15 voucher to use in their store in the next 12 months. Please tell me if you think I’m overreacting but I really feel they should refund the full amount. I don’t even know if it’s safe to serve to children to eat if I manage to tidy it up and salvage it enough to bring out. I certainly won’t be ordering another one from them. For a £55 cake, I’m just sad. I’ve emailed them back but have had no response.

Other than that, we have everything we need for a lovely party and I’m trying to be cheerful.

I think even if useable a full refund should apply. Might make them re- consider the packaging/ delivery.

If I was paying £55 for a cake or even £40 with the refund I would expect better.
