Thanks you lovely lot 😊
The payday money shuffle has been done and I’ve caught up on lots of little financial transfers and balancing the books. My holiday pot is now almost full - just one more deposit to make - and we can afford everything essential on the list now. I cannot wait for this holiday as we’ve planned a bit of a Scottish retreat. It’s going to be really special and really relaxing and not at all rainy (manifestation in action there).
My stress with the work issue is diffusing. It’s still a tricky one but I’ve got to the point where I feel that I can detach from it a bit more. That’s a relief in itself but it has put me back further with a very intense schedule that’s already time-limited. Just need to keep my head above water for a while longer. This time in three weeks, I will be done for the long summer holiday.
Good things today:
-spent some time in the back garden, enjoying the evening sun with a cup of tea and Mr D-treated myself to a posh bath with a new bargain candle and a few pages of my new book
-time spent with lovely colleagues and family that I’m lucky to have in my life
And just like that, tomorrow is hump day again!5 -
Detachment is really good to try practice…work today I kinda got a bit screwed over and got a bit fed up with it but then a person said you either learn to enjoy it or you just stop caring and that makes it easier 🤣.

I'm glad one of the candles was for you!

We’re over the hump! I’d like to say it was a productive day, because it was productive, but I’ve still got most of my to-do list left to work through.
My eye is twitching, which is a sure sign of stress/strain/tiredness. What an attractive list of ailments to choose from 🙈.
Nothing much else to report. Dinner was spag bol with a frozen batch of bolognaise - really nice and lunch had been leftovers of chicken and flatbreads from last night. Also really tasty. So if nothing else, at least I’ve eaten well today!
Tonight I’m feeling especially grateful for my front garden, which is more or a driveway border than garden. It’s come into bloom and is just the prettiest patch of roses and white lavender. The lilac hydrangea is coming into flower, and there is something about the combination of plants that makes my heart happy. Now I planted the lavender last year, but all else is down to Mr D’s hard work. What a luxury to be able to sit in the bay window with a cup of tea and just admire the view of an evening.6 -
sounds lovely ☺️

I am feeling rough this morning. The week has been simultaneously speedy and never-ending.
Going to be digging in deep to get through to another weekend. My diary is chocca again, and I think in all honesty, like everyone else I work with, I’m hitting burnout. There’s just been no let up at all from a workload perspective. In fact, more just keeps being piled on and there’s no real way of avoiding it. Just got to keep ploughing through each day. I think I’m feeling like I’ve hit a wall because yesterday was so busy and I’ve ended up with a ringing ear that hasn’t stopped all night, disturbing my sleep and making me feel extra groggy this morning.
Hope for the day: I report back tonight to say it was actually a really positive and productive Friday.5 -

Thanks @Baileys_Babe. I’m sorry to sound such a whinge - it’s my offloading space!
Today was positive in lots of ways and definitely not as bad as I’d feared. However, the list of work hasn’t gotten any shorter so I may end up working over the weekend. Boo to that 😒In happier news… I’ve made a sale on Vinted so that’ll be £15 coming in when it’s cleared. AND I’m joining the premium bonds winners list for the first time 🥳. A lovely bonus £50! I saw the message on my phone and didn’t want to open it at work. Convinced myself it’d be £25 but dreamed of what we’d do with each separate prize amount on my drive home. Pleasantly surprised with £50, but my dreams of being mortgage free and quitting work were short-lived 😂
Grateful for the weekend. Mr D has treated me to a bottle of my favourite wine and something with chips for dinner. Perfect!

£65 up on the Day is a good start to the weekend.
Try not to work to much. The world won't end if you leave work until Monday.

Popping in to echo Ellenvan's comment and to throw in Steven Covey's "sharpen the saw" wisdom.
wine and chips sounds like a great Friday evening.4
