Yes we have Virgin but it is co-ax, an ALT BRSK and OR.
I read VM are thinking of about a take over of City Fiber and BRSK who recently merged with another Alt.
So I guess a lot of changes on the way.
We used to have at least 13 independent TV companies now we have just ITV.
Again we used to have 13 or so Cable TV companies' and which became Virgin.

Would make sense, probably cheaper than replacing all that decades-old coax that's no longer up to snuff.prowla said:dnpark38 said:@shiraz99

It will be the duct route's and wayleaves that are the attraction, if you can stage a takeover at the right time and get these assets at way below cost of installation it becomes an attractive proposition.flaneurs_lobster said:

Agreed, although CityFibre have recently secured more finance from their investors and are also looking to M&A to swallow a few smaller rivalsEldi_Dos said:

So, as an update I've ordered Sky 150 full fibre to be installed in a couple of weeks time. My only issue is that I don't want the fibre coming in at the same point as my current copper line as there isn't a spare plug socket in that location. Will Openreach be flexible and install the line around the side of the house to where I want it? I have a house with a bay front so the line would have to take a couple of turns before dropping down to where I want it.

Probably, unless what you want would be far too time consuming, or require unsafe working , then the ONT can go (to a certain extent) were you want it…not being near the existing master socket isn’t unusual as two powered outlets are needed , for the ONT and router , if your preferred location doesn’t have power (or not enough power outlets) you can supply an power extension cable.shiraz99 said:So, as an update I've ordered Sky 150 full fibre to be installed in a couple of weeks time. Well, it might make sense for Virgin, but not for the CF customers!flaneurs_lobster said:

Indeed, but the first duty of CityFibre's and VirginMediaO2's directors is to maximise the returns to their shareholders.prowla said:

Aye, but this site isn't about maximising companies profits.flaneurs_lobster said:

But a bigger company with a larger customer base, along with bit of rationalistion to cut cost's per subscriber might be in the customers interests in the long run.Who knows.prowla said:
