Happy New Year! Sincerely hope that it will be everything that you need it to be.
My goal this year is to clear down the cupboard of doom, rehome a lot of crafty stuff that I no longer have the time or inclination to do and to get my fundraising projects done as soon as possible (and stored appropriately)
I also need to invest some time into properly researching how to manage the horrendous side effects to one of my medications, losing three days every two weeks is not ideal. The medication is amazing, the side effects, not.
Good luck to everyone on this thread, and may your journey be filled with lots of small wins, alongside the big ones.20 -

Couldn't find the dogs painkillers so he went without until I finally spotted the box on the side hidden under clutter. And so, the kitchen really needs to be the first place to start. I'm not great at posting titles but one empty box from fridge gone (Why did anyone put an empty box away?) and 3 pots of household cleaners that I will never use (left by others) thrown.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!17 -
Hello everyone 👋 she says while sneaking back into the room. 🤣
Please count me in again @Mrs_Salad_Dodger.
I'm not setting any goals and am aiming to just take whatever wins happen. RL got a bit overwhelming at the end of last year so I've scaled right back on everything. But, I did finally manage a tip run with my son that got rid of a lot of the large bits of wood from the garden and I finally got rid of the last of the 10 or so binbags of left behind rubbish I'd evicted from the summerhouse. That was a slow process as I only get 3 bags collected every fortnight and have to make sure I have room in the bags for the cat litter as a priority, along with anything else that I'm evicting from the house. 😁 My local tip doesn't accept black bags. 😞
The massive pile of garden waste has also almost all gone - that's on hold at the moment as I might have wildlife overwintering in the remaining heap. But I also have a large hedge that's still overrun with bramble to attack. No garden waste collections until March so that's going to be tip runs.
If anything, I think my main decluttering this year will be of anything that makes life difficult - e.g., backlog of filing/paperwork that in turn clutters my desk which means I don't have space to deal with anything, etc., etc..
We'll see how it goes; I think my New Year Resolution is to reduce stress in my life.
So here's to a successful 2026 for us all. 😁😁 DxxAiming for a Champagne Lifestyle on a Lemonade BudgetDECLUTTERING CAMPAIGN - 2023 🏅4*⭐️ : 2024 🏅💐2*⭐️ : 2025 ⭐⭐⭐🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅 : 2026

Happy New Year everyone. I stayed in but went out at 11 to get DGS4 from party as he was tired. He demanded food as soon as we got in and stayed awake until fireworks were heard at midnight. Then he bailed out until nearly 9 this morning.
I am going to wander round the house and garden with a note pad and make a list of perhaps 10 major jobs which I will allocate '50' points to if they get completed this year. Hopefully I may get at least half of them done starting with the 'done' rooms and little bits and pieces not completed. I am doing this last year on one committee and I will resign at AGM 2027. I feel I have done my bit on committees and others can take over. I'll will continue to run my U3A Beginner's Family History group but I have allowed myself January and February off with a restart in March. A fellow genealogist I have known for some years has offered to help next year - he already led the December session for me on an area where he has more expertise.
DGS4 aged 10 is sitting in kitchen asking where breakfast is!! I'd better attend to that next.2026 Decluttering and redistribution 72/1526 Major job list 0/500 Total 72/2026

Started the New Year as I would like to continue.
I binned some broken lights and then found some odd bits in the garage that needed binning. As the garage is on my to do list this year, I moved them straight to the bin and then that created space for some items on the floor to be put on the shelving unit. Not a huge amount, but it is a start to have decluttered a few bits and made space for others.
All Christmas items have now been take down. Most are away in the loft but a couple of strays have been forgotten. I will get them up there.
Wishing everyone a peaceful year. XSeptember 2017 Debt = £25330

I fell asleep by 9 last night and then had a very broken sleep and have woken up feeling rubbish. Great start to the new year!

I'm going to go and look through one of the wardrobes right now before I lose any momentum!
Happy New Year all.

This is what I have so far. Four dresses, three tops, reusable water bottle, a cup, a 2026 calendar, cat ornament and three pairs of trainers. I don’t know what I was thinking with the yellow ones! I’ve never even worn them outside.

Hi Chums, lovely sunny but very cold day here on the IoW .Not a lot of decluttering done just yet although I suppose if you count decluttering the kitchen of empty tins at 2.00 am this morning to the recycling bin (we had some friends over to see the New Year in)I guess it was a mini declutter
We had a great evening with a take-away of chinese food for those who like it (I'm not keen as the sauces upset my tummy,) but I had a great chicken curry my son-in-law Simon had made from the freezer, so just added some rice and it was really nice
We spent the evening playing Blankety Blank (one of the Christmas games DD bought ) a lot of fun and a good deal of laughter then we played Uno and then ordinary cards until ten to twelve.
Heard the fireworks, and DD had to cuddle her little Westie terrier as he is terrified of the bangs, her big rescue greyhound barely opened one eye. He seems to be immune to loud noises, but is inherently lazy and prefers to snooze
Back door and front doors were opened to let the old year out and the new one in, we watched a litttle bit of the celebrations on tv but spent most of the time just nattering.
Today is just a pottering day I've downloaded the January U3A diary and marked all the things on the calender and just generally just errm pottered
I think tonight Simon is cooking Lamb chops for dinner tonight, which will be nice, but lunch will be still eating up odds and ends from the fridge to use them up.
I think DD and her OH will probably declutter herself to run the dogs on the beach, but I've stuck my nose outside and its far too nippy for me .
This afternoon it will be feet up, tv on, and a bit of knitting with maybe a NannyNap thrown in
to catch up on lost sleep from a late night.
DD is thinking of trying something new with her friend this year and are thinking about line dancing
or even joining a choir, her friend is conviced she has three left feet and I think DD is convinced as well but they are determined to try something different. Its nice she has made some friends and is getting out and about which she never had the chance to do before as she always had one of the children or work to rush about to.
We do miss the boys but not the mess and noise
they are good lads though, and each one texted to say where they were, and that they had got home safely after the bells
Roll on the spring as I'm looking forward to putting Ben and my plan of action for the garden for the veg .We're thinking apart from spud and tomatoes we will have a go at runner beans and maybe peas. He will be down at the February half term so not long to go.
Right time for a cuppa before lunch
Have a nice day what ever you are doing enjoy it
