2026 DECLUTTERING CAMPAIGN Mrs SD - our Year of Redistribution

I think I’m getting ready to hibernate as it feels like all I’ve done this weekend is eat. Yesterday DF took me to lunch, we chose something very simple but delicious. I took some red velvet cake, apple cake and sausage rolls home too. Found the perfect little white lidded pot for my sweeteners in one CS for £1 and it’s new. Then went to another CS and found a new stainless steel cutlery tray for new kitchen also £1. Don’t worry, the current blue and white lidded pot will be listed as will the very big cutlery tray I am currently using. Came home and became a sloth! As the 26th of each month this year is “me” day, I slobbed out, reading, watching YT and having a lovely restful day. My lovely husband kept me well supplied with tea as well, I am very lucky.
Back to normal today. Did one load of whites and towels ready to go on the line tomorrow. Rained this morning so I couldn’t put out today. Lunch was toad in the hole, steamed pots, sweet pot, parsnips, carrots, peas, green beans and gravy. Gave the kitchen a good clean after. Disposed of lots of little catalogues and notes I’ve written to myself from the sitting room to the bin.
Selling sites very quiet this weekend but probably as it’s getting close to payday again. I’m sure it will pick up.Have a good night all, sweet dreams xx

@Florenceem - I think those waves of sadness are common when you have suffered a loss. I found it was often some stupid incident that set it off - I couldn't unscrew something, the message on the computer was like a foreign language to me, nobody had rung for a couple of days. It does get easier with time. Hugs.
I must do some decluttering today. The heating has come on this morning. Waiting for DGCs to be dropped off but nothing in diary until Thursday this week. I will need to go shopping again as both children have brought home cookery class ingredients. DS2 and I will have some things but not all of them.

Queen Jess, if you are not attached to your cookery books and only want to keep the odd recipe, would taking a photo work for you rather than writing them out?Your description of worms in the family is brutal. Hope you are over it soon.
Granny Kate, I remember those , I need xyz for cookery at 7am on the day of the lesson!
My friend came yesterday. I lit the log burner. I don't want to give it up. I am not enjoying this wearing layers and sitting at night with a blanket. Not long till October and the heating goes on. This is all new to me, at the old house I had the heating on virtually every day, all year! Mr V says I am cold because I am on a diet. He could have something there.
Sent my friend away with some mittens and a hat for her Granddaughter. She brought cooking apples.
No avoiding it, front garden weeding today and a mooch round the pots in the back garden.

I don't think I am attached to them… more a fantasy self crossed with a "just in case", "what if" or "one day" mentality…
I have a cleaner in today helping to deep clean the house!

Whilst I was waiting for my soup to cook for lunch (hm curried lentil and spinach soup - extras left in the tlc carriage with hm soda bread), I flicked through a recipe book I just knew I would want to keep. Turns out the only recipes I was vaguely interested in were two soups I already have recipes for, so that recipe book will be exiting. No more recipe viewing today as I can't deal with reading more than one a day. I did use a recipe book I read yesterday though to make my soup for lunch and I've found lots of interesting recipes in there, so that one is a keeper.
I also finally broke out my pride and joy - a teal colour Parker 51 vintage fountain pen that I bought an age ago and finally cleaned it all out and am using it for work. It's so lovely 😍. I still have some pencils to use up, but will use those for random thoughts at work rather than meeting notes. Once the random pencils go I have a clicky vintage pencil from my grandparents house I would love to use.
I will look for more things to go later… I have a vague notion of finding 10 physical things and 10 digital things to go everyday this week. Digital is done for today, but I have 7 physical things left to find. I can almost see the bottom of the scrap paper drawer I am trying to use up, which is progress!
Digital:
1 - app deleted
1 - bookmarks deleted
8 - photos deletedPhysical:
Kitchen stuff
1 - freezer oversupplies used upBooks and Paperwork
1 - recipe book (charity bag)
1 - blender free recipe book kept in case I suddenly decide to make my own almond milk or suddenly decide my own pesto/houmous recipes need to change?! (recycled)New total 9,252

My dd2 has to use a 4-colour pen for school; she had finished the black and the blue, and I've bought her a new one for this school year. The old one is now in the kitchen for using up, so all my shopping lists and calendar notes are in green and red :) I'm back to writing my shopping lists on (odd pieces of) paper; the notes function on my phone is just not doing it for me.

@Mrs_Salad_Dodger this is the diamond art I am happy with and it didn't take to long to do.
Went to the works yesterday and I picked up what I fought was diamond art but was when I got home and looked at them properly they are printing my numbers so I will take them back this week.
Did my ironing yesterday just need to put it away, some of the bits I will put away to sell next year and other bits to go in a bag to go to the rag man.
Today I have sorted out a couple of drawers in my bedroom and sorted out my winter pyjamas out and put the summer ones in the bottom drawer, an old dressing gown will go to the charity shop and also some old bed stocks will go in the rag bag.
I have sorted some old receipts in the room of doom only because I was looking for something that I put somewhere and couldn't find them.
