2. Sort out sleep patterns - initial targets: bed by 03:00, up by 10:30
3. Don’t put it down, put it away + deal with mini tasks as soon as they are noticed e.g. refill olive pourer or salt cellar, stitch up a hole in a garment etc.
4. Commence ‘Operation Financial Frog Tickling’ using the acronym - I.R.I.S. (Identify, Research, Implement, Sign Off) - One per quarter
5. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed
6. Plan & Execute ONE Major Project - 2026 New Bathroom
7. Target 2026 items out

Tuesday is a bright sunny day with a high of 25°C, low of 15°C & a light E wind. Another day of doing nothing - my get up & go has got up & gone ☹️ & I am struggling to work out a reason 🤔 Anyway I will start on the cheerleading & see how far I can get 🤞 

Brambling, hopefully the car service, cleaning & MOT won’t be too expensive 🤞 Excellent decluttering of paperwork 👏 

QueenJess, great work decluttering the steam cleaner 👏 This “I guess the moral of the story is that you do get used to the stuff and don’t see it anymore and even if it’s neatly stored and not in the way, it does make a big difference to get rid of the stuff you don’t use anymore.” is so true & a reminder to be more discerning in our decluttering 😊

Excellent work in both the house & garden Liverpool_Anne 👏 I have been remiss in making awards so TWO Gold Stars ⭐️ ⭐️ are on their way. Re the extra building work issues, I will be keeping everything crossed that your builder can accommodate the extra work & that it won’t extend the time for renovations by too long 🤞🙏  I really must catch up with the cheerleading so I can start watching Space Maker videos 😉

All dark washing hung out and dried.
Dinner for us both all freezer. It’s really coming down now.

I bought a small roll of, what we used to call Fablon to cover a windowsill in the bedroom, it looks brilliant, really pleased with it. I have a plastic waste bin that I’ve never liked, can’t think where it came from either. Anyway, used the Fablon to cover it and it fabulous now, I love it. So no need to buy a new one!


Hope you’re sitting down ready for this one…… DH has planned a declutter which includes a hideous 7 foot wide wardrobe! I’m being nothing other than encouraging and supportive. We have a few jobs to deal with this week so, hopefully, next week we can begin. I’m thrilled.

Sunday was spent washing. I had another free hour of electricity so decided I would use it against one of the 3 hours of the hot towel wash. The machine was full as in went towels, facecloths, tea-towels and cleaning clothes. I finished off with a bedding wash as the sun was shining.

I'm really glad I did because it feels like someone has just flicked the switch over to autumn!

Yesterday the boiler guy returned after picking up and fitted the new radiator I ordered. I now have a smaller radiator in the kitchen, not because it was too hot in there but because when I finally get round to doing the kitchen I want a worksurface above it, The old radiator was just too tall, and doing it now means I won't have to do it later and probably when it's cold and I want the heating on.

I then took a trip to Dobb… where despite my good intentions I decluttered more money on plants. Well they had a sale on and I managed to find 4 plants that were not half dead and would be perfect for the front border. This time it was a coreopsis, a penstemon, an achillea and a salvia. So over the last 2 months I've spent £27 but got myself 7 plants. 😁 I did notice that they had a mother in laws tongue that was a little smaller than the one I bought in L1dl the other week. Dobb… price was £12.99, L1dl's was £3.99! I guess that's why I rarely buy full price plants at Dobb… If I want a more specialised plant I tend to go to my local independent garden centre.

Today, rain threatened all day but there was only a short light drizzle in the end. 😔 I took cuttings from the salvia and the penstemon to over winter and pottered around the house for most of the day. I'm trying to clear those little jobs that keep being left but actually clutter the place up. Today's, and probably for the next few days, job id putting some extra stuffing in some small bolster cushions. It's taking ages to hand sew closed; I'm only half way along the first of the 2 but I know I will be happy and the cushions will be more usable once it's done. I also remembered to remove some of the old plasterboard that the builders left under the pile of gravel on the front drive. It's had weeks drying out and I didn't want to forget about it yet again and have it too wet to pick up easily.

This evening I realised I hadn't checked the courgette/marrow plant for a few days 😱 Only one large courgette rather than a marrow was there. 😅 But I also harvested the first 2 (of 4) of my Jack be little squashes. They look just the perfect size for me.

Oh no, I've just heard that Dolly Parton has died - I think she was amazing. 😭

More stuff decluttered here. I was saying to my bestie that some of the stuff has been in my stash for years. I am being tempted to get rid of all my beading stuff - pliers as well.

another one sad to hear of dolly's death. Something about that announcement she made a while ago suggested to me she was more ill than she was letting on but I didn't expect this news so soon

2 tip trips with big builders bags of shrubbery. The evil rose bush has gone. It is safe to go down the steps to the patio. Plenty more clearing to do but all the shrubs have been cut down. In putting stuff from the sentry box in the bigger shed Mr V found a defunct chain saw for the tip. I also sent 2 coffee percolators which I used to grow plants in.

Mr V's friend is coming tomorrow to help put some loft insulation in. There is some but not deep enough. There will be another tip trip as there is a chuffin divan bed in the loft left by previous owner. There is a nice bench which I need to recover and some Christmas trees which I can find a home for in the wardrobe in the spare room. I might give one away, I bought it second hand last year and didn't realise it has branches that you have to add yourself.

We have had our new waste food bins today. Which means we have a smart new peg box and the larger one has garden tools in it.

Can't wait for rainy days which are forecast. I am planning a quilt for DGS2's first Birthday. recover the bench,lots of other snaggy things to do in the house. Including build the bunkbeds. That one will almost certainly end in divorce.

I’ve been feeling low energy today - think I’m coming down with a head cold. But day turned out to be more productive than I’d expected.

Finally got my head down enough to catch up with my work admin this morning .- almost entirely up to date now. This afternoon was lovely and sunny so did some gentle gardening. Nice neighbour let me use their green bin - so that’s 2 wheelie bins of green waste to be collected tomorrow .
