2026 DECLUTTERING CAMPAIGN Mrs SD - our Year of Redistribution

Morning all. Yesterday morning was cooler but still very humid - I just wish it would rain. I went shopping with DiL and got the last of holiday clothes. Will take down to DS2's later as they are in charge of cases. I found long handled secateurs (no idea what proper name is) and oiled them and they seem to work fine now. Realised I can use them to trim back unwanted bushes - too hard to dig them out completely at the moment. The out of control lavender can stay for this year as now a mass of bees and other insects. I trimmed back some bits when I went out to hang the washing first thing. I watched the football but I'm not a great fan.

I have bought all my August birthday cards ready and the remaining July ones are written ready to post before I go away. I have small frogs to do later but almost nothing booked this week other than a local history trip to nearby village tomorrow pm. School runs most of the week though. DS2 got several large pieces of fresh salmon reduced at Mr M due to freezer problems. We had some done on barbecue with other things yesterday which was very nice. I bought three raw portions home for my freezer. I need to do a sort through freezers to see what I have and aim to use things up when I get back from holiday.

695 Rhubarb decluttered to neighbour - he asked about it the other week before he went on holiday

696 First two potato plants dug up by DGS4 - he took them to his dad for dinner later today

697 Fridge emptied and cleaned out - nothing had gone off but it was smelly - small spills I guess. Very smart in there now. DGS4 helped and found some cooked pasta which he claimed and heated up in new microwave with grated cheese. I found a bottle of beer at very back so drunk that! Some oddments binned.

698 Correct drum arrived for the printer so old one decluttered with packaging

699 Holiday clothes finalised will take to DS2 later today.

I thought the England match was at 1 am for some reason. Went in the garden and just came in at 10 because it was getting dark to find it on TV. Another section of the garden dug over.Hard work. Every little helps.

Well done on your weight loss greent and vinted sales. It must be great to have a whole new wardrobe.

A much cooler day here today, high of 25. It is a possibility that I may finish digging over the front garden. My garden fork hand is sore but I am determined to get it finished. We still need to finish the clear up from the lilac forest. That will have to be after we have been baby sitting next week. Mr V needs a rest today after a huge day yesterday, he is working tonight.

The only decluttering today will be eating up picky bits from the fridge. That'll be mostly me then. DD2 is here and she and her Dad are salad dodgers.

No painting happened yesterday as my friend stayed hours which was lovely. She went when it cooled down to turn her Shetland ponies out. She has been keeping them in during the day and turning them out over night.

The end of the heatwave is in sight. Vx

3. Don’t put it down, put it away + deal with mini tasks as soon as they are noticed e.g. refill olive pourer or salt cellar, stitch up a hole in a garment etc.

Sunday is another bright sunny day with a forecast high of 29°C, low of 17°C & an ENE wind which I am hoping will provide some relief. DH & I are meeting our friends A & J for lunch in Stratford as it is A’s birthday today. I must remember to take his birthday card 😉 We haven’t seen them for a while so plenty to catch up on ☺️

GrannyKate, This “Woke at 6 to ‘my mother’s voice’ telling me from doorway to get up - very distinct - I guess I was dreaming but I did wake up. Mum has been gone 13 years now. Bizarre.” made me smile 🥹 & set me to thinking about my lovely mum who has been gone 18 years 🥺 Excellent work completing the online frog  & also very impressive digital decluttering 👏 Hosepipe bans tend to irk me, especially when walking or driving & seeing gallons of water being wasted because of a broken water pipe 😞 

regnbue, I can just imagine you & your co-workers taking it in turns “to spend time in the chillers” ☺️

Was taken to Church by P as bestie was not going - it is her daughter's 25th birthday and the family are going out.

I took 3 gnomes to Church in a basket. Spoke to corps sergeant major about the gnomes. I came home with £20 for SA funds - so Simon, Sam and Sebastian have new homes. I owe a blue gnome to M - I let the visiting speaker buy it. I will take along more gnomes next week. I was asked for a girl gnome.

Cooler here today - north east breeze - feels like 18 degrees.

Will watch the service from my old C of E church.

Watched my service online. It was announced that our interim vicar has been appointed as permanent vicar, which I'm thrilled about.

Went down to the allotment, planning to water and dig up just a few thistle weeds. It was later than I intended going, and I got chatting to the people opening the allotment shop today, so by 12pm I decided it was too hot and came back home again. I'll go much later to water!

Now watching yellow balls bouncing around on grass 🎾

Loving rhe gnomes.

Another bag to cs, added a couple of t-shirts, ice cube tray, 5 pillowcases ( 4 in packaging) another item.i can't recall and picnic blanket for recycling. Ood food out. Some digital declutter. Have asked dds about other items which should be able to go to cs tomorrow.

Waiting to hear if an item will be collected as having no shows:(

Church this morning then lunch with a friend. Home to have a laze around in the garden.

Very little decluttering or anything productive today but I did manage to tidy up the temporary shed (ie my son's old playhouse) and made enough room to store an electric heater that I am decluttering.

Completed day 12 of the "Minimalist Game" - 78 items so far this month (I got ahead of myself so have "banked" some items… )

I have a week off next week - plan to do some more work in the garden, catch up with some work admin (I've got horribly behind and I'm dreading facing it) and I plan to venture up in the loft to continue decluttering. Tomorrow though I will be spending the day at a retreat - I haven't managed to get there since my son got ill - I'm half looking forward to it and half thinking - oh I could be getting so much done if I had a day at home - but I know I will differently once I'm there.
