Have since been online and had DH do the sniff test, I have no sense of smell, and - according to all the experts out there - me paint has gorn off!! Not a problem. £14.99 and free carriage for a new 5 litre tin plus Clubcard points in Tesco. Delivery by 15th. I’m not going to moan, it’s still cheaper than a tradesman was going to charge.

Hi all, managed a few things today. Car insurance sorted. I checked the quote from mse and compared all the excess amounts and decided to go with my old insurance so phoned them to renew. Eventually connected to a real person, in Cape town S.A. but still more understandable than some call centres I have dealt with 😁. I queried politely why the cost had gone up £70 as I haven't had a claim and the helpful lady said she would check if there were any discounts available. Kept everything the same but got £30 off so well chuffed with that 😂.

1 LDFPA, bag of gubbins from the conservatory binned and 8 small planters decluttered of spiders webs and a couple of dead spiders 😂.

Bit of a panic over my friend's son who didn't answer his phone when his brother tried him this morning and he had missed his group thing this morning. The brother contacted his Mum on holiday in Greece. OH and I both tried calling him but got no answer and his brother eventually went to the house. He had accidentally taken 2 Lots of his meds and was asleep. He texted both OH and me to let us know he was ok then phoned me. I asked if he would like me to go over to spend some time with him tomorrow and he said yes so I am off there in the morning. I am not happy with his brother but that is not my battle. His brother doesn't understand his MH issues and just tells him to sort himself out, flipping idiot. I texted his mum to let him know what is happening and OH will be going over on Sunday and Monday, we will see where we are after that.

Awake too early again. Went to sleep trying to work out the % of things i have in the house that I actually use - maybe 4-5%. Some are sentimental and other stuff you maybe dont expect to use but think this shouldn't be more than 10% . I suppose differs whether by number of volume/ space taken up. Then woke up thinking about clutter! Clearly I need to do something 😀

2. Sort out sleep patterns - initial targets: bed by 03:00, up by 10:30
3. Don’t put it down, put it away + deal with mini tasks as soon as they are noticed e.g. refill olive pourer or salt cellar, stitch up a hole in a garment etc.
4. Commence ‘Operation Financial Frog Tickling’ using the acronym - I.R.I.S. (Identify, Research, Implement, Sign Off) - One per quarter
5. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed
6. Plan & Execute ONE Major Project - 2026 New Bathroom
7. Target 2026 items out

Friday is a far cooler day with a high of 29°C, low of 21°C & a really delightfully strong cooling easterly breeze with some cloud covering the sun 😮‍💨 I have had a lovely cooling bath & washed my hair. I was going to accompany DH to CW - he has an opticians appointment but I wasn’t quite ready so will head off shortly to the bank so might bump into him 😉 DH left 13:30 & I left 14:00. Fortunately, although I had to wait 15 minutes for the bus, I was on the shady side of the road with the breeze making it even cooler 😄 Arrived at CW & the down escalator was boxed off for repairs. Not sure why but I really struggle to walk down a stationary escalator but have no problem walking up 🤔 Banked June’s PB win & got some cash then went to the opticians to see if DH was still there….. he was. Whilst he was getting measured for some glasses he asked if I could get him some acetone & I remembered that DSis needed some witch-hazel. Arrived back just as DH was finishing up. He treated me to a coffee then we caught the bus halfway home - DH went to the barber & I picked up my meds. Most of the cloud cover had disappeared so the sun was beating down & it was uncomfortably hot 🥵 Once DH had had his haircut he waited at the the bus stop whilst I waited across the road in the shade. We were home by 16:00. We each  guzzled down a pint of squash before we began to feel human again 😉 DH spent the rest of the afternoon catching up with MotoGP practice sessions & I sorted out my accounts. Dinner was tuna bake for DSis whilst DH & I had salmon fillets with boiled new potatoes & a tomato, peppers & red onion salad. Wudupa.

Like others I can't believe how little I am doing because of the heat. Woke up to a cloudy and over cast start but it is still very humid. Woke at 6 to 'my mother's voice' telling me from doorway to get up - very distinct - I guess I was dreaming but I did wake up. Mum has been gone 13 years now. Bizarre. Going shopping with DiL this morning to get last few holiday bits. Stuck at home yesterday doing nothing whilst car was serviced.

I did sweep the kitchen floor when I got up and I will run the mop over it. Men working outside mean there is a lot of grit which seems to get through closed doors and windows. Sox keeps rolling in the dust - I guess its cool. On line meeting last night and managed to finalise a frog from last year. Will sort today and that is something gone from to do list for another 2 years. Hunted for and found birth certifcates for DS2 and his children. I thought I had given them to him but still in my filing. He is taking DGS4 to open a bank account today.

Posters mentioned recordings in their digital declutter so I sat with remote and deleted probably 200 things - for some reason I had been recording the news for the last three months. Just two things left a Les Mis concert which I sometimes put on and a programme for my sister on her next UK visit as she can't get it any way in US.

We have a hosepipe ban from today - I tried to explain to DGS4 that he needs to retain the water in the swimming pool and not splash it out as I can't refill.

Morning everyone

Have awoken to some very cooling fog that has rolled in this morning. It's lovely 😃

Hope some of it drifts your way to reduce the temps. Our air con at work (sm) is poor as they are deflecting the power to the fridges/freezers so they don't conk out in the heat.

I had to spend time in the chillers at work yesterday to stop myself conking out.

Here's hoping this is the start of hotter temps reducing for everyone.

Morning all.

Bestie is coming for me at 9.30 - we are going to a street sale in the village where charity shop is. One of the shop volunteers is taking part so we want to support her. Daughter said I am not to buy anything.

I still haven't filled my shopping trolley for the charity shop.

I did some knitting yesterday evening while I had deluttering programmes on You tube.

I have a hat, 2 legs and 2 arms knitted for gnome no 13. I hope to have an idea of how many gnomes I need after Sunday.

Hi, my son and family are in Scarborough and he has just messaged to say he is wearing a jumper.☃️

I intend to get something done today as it is forecast 27. It was 32 yesterday. Possibly some painting of the bunk beds.

My friend is coming for lunch later, Mr V out all day with the carnival. He left at 8am, he will be back about 1am. Just in time for the footie.

I ate a frog. Requested a tax refund online. It was actually quick and painless.

TC, I am also thinking I have too much. When it's cooler I will knock spots off as my Auntie used to say.It's clothes for me, I don't wear 99% of them. Also kitchen cupboards. I can just about reach the bottom shelf in the wall cupboards so instead of getting the steps I just shove stuff anywhere there is a gap. I have never used Vinted. I cba with selling stuff these days, though in the past it was very good to me. I feel like so many people do it now and more people mess you about. Someone who used to be on the thread said she wouldn't go to the trouble of selling something if it was less than a fiver. I took that on board and I only sell stuff like furniture now. It doesn't hurt to send stuff to charity as most of it was second hand in the first place.

The stuff I have coming in is garden stuff and stuff for the Grandsons. I picked up a free kids circus tent yesterday.I am very careful what i get or I could fill the house with free toys. Garden stuff is done till we move onto the back garden. I just need more clement weather to transfer some plants from the back to the front then I just sit back and enjoy!
