Floss - I'm already overpaying £19.33 a month, I know massive right but it takes my payment up to a round amount of £370.00 a month. I also overpay by £600 every other month. I'm going to sell what I can from the cupboards and throw everything I can at it!

Mrs_Salad_Dodger - Yeah I'll look to build an emergency fund but my main focus is overpaying the mortgage at the moment, probably a bit backwards but it's how my brain works. Sounds like you had a great day.

My mum has gone to London with her friend. We are looking after my mum’s three cats and the friend’s dog. We also have three cats. I wasn’t sure where one of my mum’s cats was until I heard the sofa grumbling. The dog doesn’t seem in the least bit bothered by the cats but five of the six cats are skulking around. The sixth cat is coming up for his 22 birthday this year and he is trying to get some sleep. Funny little chap was sleeping standing up but with is head resting upside down on the sofa. Fortunately he has laid down now. Not much of anything useful getting done now. I should go and clean some more for the party.

Decluttered another frog. We have fancy wall hung rimless toilets. The seat in the family bathroom was loose. I was dreading trying to get it off and the brackets straightened but it was ok in the end, so people using that loo are less likely to fall off the loo.

Second frog. We have a black and gold runner on the stairs. The front edge is wearing thin after 25 years but the cats are not great with carpet so we don’t want to replace it. I use a sharpie every five years or so to colour in the missing carpet. Today was the day for carpet colouring.

2 more Vinted items despatched today so all the sales and I are up straight.

Booked the hotel for DSis’s birthday in Feb (yes forward planning) but as the theatre tickets are already bought and the hotel had £40 off from when I last looked it seemed like a good idea to sort it now.

Also booked National Theatre Live (cinema) tickets for Dangerous Liaisons. I’m looking forward to Aiden Turner as the Vicomte.

It's rubbish day tomorrow. So I'm going to have a look in the fridge, freezer and kitchen drawers to see what's out of date or unrecognisable. I'm going to include the very sorry looking basil plant on the kitchen window sill. I tend to keep basil for a couple of months despite them having a supposed "shelf life" of a week or so. There's already a new one (think OH bought it when we already had one). I love adding fresh basil to salads and sandwiches so I'm hoping that the newer one will last our week's holiday - friend who comes to water the garden for us some how never sees the indoor greenery.

_Dolly_Rocker_ - the stairs didn't give me backache but moving the boxes today has.

I did the ironing and then started to fight my way into the old office. J had carried the heavy boxes to there - I emptied them out a bit into a bag before trying to lift them but still got a back pain.

Bestie called round - I gave her a box of the creme eggs but she only wanted one

Bestie took the donations that I had ready.

I have a lot of bags of craft stuff ready for A & M's schools crafts cupboards.

Another bag already has a lot in it for bestie's charity shop. I am being ruthless.

Stopping to eat now.

Decluttered - 2 sponges, 3 boxes of envelopes, 8 pieces of fabric, ribbon tool, 12 brass stencils, 2 packs of charms, box of pastels, bag of make up sponges, 5 emulsion tester pots, coat hanger, plastic bag, clothes cover, 27 craft books, paper, wooden backed rubber stamps x 6, jiffy bag x 2, paper, hand made paper card/envelope, 2 sizzix dies, 2 sets of inks, card and a pack of rub ons.

Just had a phone call from grandson J - he is fishing and caught a large bass - his mum said nan can gut and fillet that so he is coming round.

@Green_hopeful love the colouring the carpet. Reminded me of on maternity leave stuffed newspaper between floorboards to deal.with draughts and then coloured with coffee and / or felt pen.

Been out alot but took the bag to the donation hub amd another to cs, some digital decluttering and paper. Frog revisited as needs attachments ( many) to email so sleeping on it and sending early am. Also bank frog and unsubscribing. Will add 10 to my nos as remembered 3 pairs of fancy laces given to teenager next door for her boots and some garden waste.

Grandson J arrived with his sister A plus a fish.

The fish had got rigor mortis but we managed to get it flat enough to work on. Bass has a very large and tough backbone. J wanted a tape measure so he could take a photo of how long it was. I don't think I have worked on a bass before but years ago boys came door to door selling fish from the boats in the harbour. The boys helped to unload and were given fish in payment. Many a time I have stood gutting 30 herrings or whiting.

I cleaned up my kitchen using a grapefruit aroma spray. A took the bags of donations out of the porch which was good.

I tidied up the landing after working in the craft storage room. Tomorrow I plan to clean out the fitted wardrobe in the lounge. I will use the shelves and one side of the space for storage of craft bits so my craft storage room is still tidy.

I have got rid of a lot of stuff today but still got a huge amount to sort.

@Florenceem your fishy tale brings back memories. My grandad had a fishing boat in our harbour. He would think nothing of opening the back door at mums and launching a huge skate across the kitchen floor, with the greeting of “there y’are girl”. Mum would do all the necessary and make a huge batch of fish cakes which grandad would sell in the pub! Many many years later we had a man who sold fresh fish straight off his boat, was so cheap - literally pennies for plaice. Oh for those days. Bass is delicious too. Get a lot off the island.

Dolly rocker if you could make £30 per month in sales your total would be £400 which just feels significantly more than the £300's. I over paid my mortgage by rounding it up to the next hundred where I could when I was proper poor back in the day. Over the years it knocked several grand off.

The food on your trips always sound lovely Mrs SD.

I haven't gutted a fish for decades. We used to have a teenage neighbour who tickled wild trout. His Mother wouldn't have the fish in the house. He brought a hen once. Never again. I am not a natural plucker!🤣

No takers for the theatre tickets.

I forgot to say I ate the frog of the ironing pile yesterday, not much but it had been waiting months.

We have had a lovely day. Being a grandparent is so much nicer than being a parent. DIL has 2 more consultancy days on the cards. NO WAY will we be getting up half an hour before we went to bed again!
