evening all. I was just in the process of drawing a thick line under all the woefulness of April when my sister rang and told me a cousin of ours has died. What is going on this month? Thank you everyone for kind thoughts and messages, I am grateful. Everything went off really well for mum, both services were just right, the flowers were stunning and I think she would have been chuffed by how many people attended. Afterwards, the funeral director, who has been quite simply amazing, took the flowers from us daughters up to my Nan and grandads grave. Mum would have liked that. My brother decided he would only have a direct cremation and then an ash scattering for the family where we all grew up.

Tomorrow is the 1st of May and it is going to be a glorious month. I’ve decided.

Today, I Decluttered the last of the laundry and boiled in soda crystals a load of dish cloths and tea towels. Then I washed them in the machine, hung on line and all dry. It’s been very breezy here this last few days so the washing has dried a treat. Since last post, I have Decluttered the last of the Easter veg, all now sleeping happily in the freezer. I also made some vegetable stock cubes - now have 5 bags in the freezer. Have also sold quite a lot on Vinted and eBay.

Nice to see everyone is doing so great with all the decorating, gardening and decluttering. After the weekend I shall be back on the horse - prepare to watch my dust! 😂

That's really interesting. I live in a 1930s semi. In the mortar, just above the level of the top of the door, but to the right and left of the door edges, I have two small metal cup hooks. Their diameter is about the width of a normal garden cane. They look as though they could be original. I wonder if what you are referring to, is what they were! Certainly, when I had painted my door some years ago, I hung something from a cane on those hooks to stop the later drizzle getting to the paint.

Oh @suzeesu2000 what a month April has been. So sorry to hear about your cousin but it's good to hear that the funeral was what you all wanted. Here's to a wonderful May!

I have given in and done a Tesc. order for tomorrow evening as I have nothing in the fridge that is helpful and I still can't drive. I've never done one before. It's quite easy to get click-happy, isn't it … there was no trouble in reaching the threshold for not being charged an extra fee!

I've also ordered and received a phone case and screen protector for the new phone I had to buy after breaking my old one over Easter. The protector looks quite complicated to apply, so I'll do it in the daylight.

There's a beautiful large moon quite low in the sky from where I'm looking. It will be cold overnight again. I need to look at the laundry basket to see what else I can reasonably fill the w/m with tomorrow and hang out on the line. I love the smell of freshly laundered and dried stuff.

The landline/broadband decision is made. That frog had been hanging around for longer than needed. I'm going with Zen, who were very easy to talk things through with when I rang them yesterday. Engineer is due on 11 May to install the fibre.

@yorkie1 thanks, it's going to feel strange at first not working but a good time to stop with the sun out.

Be careful on the online shopping. I often find i accidentally ordered too much, once years ago I ordered backed beans , think 2 or 4 tins and they turned up with two trays of about 24! Luckily they took most of them back.

@suzeesu2000 so glad to hear the funeral went well and how you wanted and planned. I'm so sorry to hear about your cousin, sending hugs and hope you're being very kind to yourself x

@suzeesu2000 -sorry to hear of another loss in your family.

After not having a tv since 2012 - I have a 40 inch smart one sitting waiting to be put on the wall. I originally got it to watch You tube on a larger screen than the one I have with my pc.

I don't think I would be thinking of getting tv if Mr F was still here. I miss the conversation and his presence so much.

A tv is not going to make up for him not being here but my children are advising me to set it up to receive programmes. I don't want the expense of Sk. as my budget won't allow it. I really don't know what tv programmes I can get without a dish or aerial. I know I will need to buy a tv licence.

@Florenceem look at the TV box as that will likely indicate what you can watch. Things like Disney, Netflix, Prime, AppleTV etc need a subscription but the regular channels (BBC, ITV, C4, Channel 5 etc) are free to air and your TV will connect via your WiFi.
