@Yorkie1 The concerts have rave reviews and are held in the great hall of our local Guildhall (so not massive). There are two concerts that we are considering.
@Mrs_Salad_Dodger I have made flapjack, a cornflake tart (pastry base, layer of jam, cornfakes coated in golden syrup on top). tray bake sponge with a jam layer and then dessicated coconut sprinkled over, traditional sponge traybake with icing and sprinkles and finally some 'bob cakes' (dark chocolate, golden syrup, cocoa powder, butter, condensed milk and crushed cornflakes.)
My niece in law wants to try pineapple upside down cake and a proper rice pudding next. I have to do rice pudding in the slow cooker as I can't abide the skin on the oven baked ones. This decision causes debates every time we discuss as there are the strange people that love the skin, and the normal people who don't 🤣

I quite agree about rice pudding skin, and custard skin, nope. Arggh, skin on warm milk or milky coffee !!!!! We went to Vivaldi by candle light, it was lovely.
Florenceem, I am sure tomorrow will bring lots of lovely memories to comfort you in times ahead. I am another who needs to keep busy, I understand. xxxx
Dnd, well done on tackling the jungle. My front garden was like that, I took the cowards way out and got a man with a digger to strip it all.
It's chuffin freezing here today. I usually don't bother about the weather but even I have noticed it today.
Just as I was about to start shortening the curtains, Mr V came home so we went out. Bought undercoat, and white emulsion to be going on with. Found a good colour for the walls which I will need to have mixed. They didn't have the size of curtain track we need in stock, we will have to order it.
I have started the ball rolling to give the sofas to a furniture project. Trying to organise a man and van to collect a new to me sofa proved too much, I gave up. The people were just too prescriptive on when collection could happen. I am going to get some Poang chairs once the sofas have gone to bide us over. I won't be sorry that the sofas have gone, nice to look at Laura Ashley but not very comfortable.
Putting washing away, I found another embroidered pillow case that can go in the charity bag. I have never seen it before in my life!
What has happened with the bike Mrs Sd?

I went to Vivaldi by candlelight too, years ago.
I have two very full bags to take to the charity shop at the weekend.18 -
Does decluttering a whole car count? Its been sat outside a garage since September 2023 and I went and took photos of it last night and someone is collection it Saturday. I get £250 for the car and then clutch and flywheel cost £420 and its from where I work so I can hopefully just be refunded straight away on that.

@Florenceem thinking of you tomorrow.
@surprisinglynice I agree with you over the skin on rice pudding. The exception was my mum’s but that was down to the lashings of nutmeg she used. She was born 2 weeks before WWII started so, as sugar was rationed, she grew up with a heavy dose of herbs and spices in food instead (her mum had a good spice cupboard and her dad loved a curry after his time in the army post WWI).
We grew up not being afraid of flavour in my house…… one of my colleagues is Syrian and is constantly bemused by the traditional Middle Eastern spices and foods that were standard for me growing up. Another colleague is Thai and was surprised about my love for lychees. Apparently I’m the first white English person they’ve met who’s eaten them.

I love skin on custard and rice pudding!! All the more for me 😉
Unexpectedly taking this afternoon off (as well as tomorrow) as I have accrued enough overtime hours to do so. It's really chilly here, rather windy. I had thought I might take some garden bags to the tip, but it feels like -1C and I'm not a masochist. Sitting under heated blanket in a cold room instead, with the TV on

@yorkie1, I am hibernating today too. Postie was remarkably cheerful at lunchtime despite being freezing cold and soaking wet.
@Florenceem - I will be thinking of you tomorrow.
Been sorting things out for friend so my own life has been put on hold for a few weeks. Using up in the kitchen and bathroom has continued however nothing else gone out. Have planned with a rellie to tackle a frog at the weekend and have done my prep for that. It will be good to get it finished having started it 3 years ago.

I appliqued numbers onto a tee shirt for granddaughter's numbers day at school. She collected it on her way home.
I popped to M & to take back bras and collect an order for more bras - I hope I eventually find one that is comfy.
I got everything ready for J to move up the drive for tomorrow's refuse collection.
I cleaned the corner of the kitchen worktop - got all my new stuff out and binned the old.
I put my charity shop jugs on the windowsill in the kitchen. I will get J to decorate the room and then get a blind installed.
I have asked my local daughter to host family before the COL tomorrow. My friend's husband is having the day off work - he will come and collect the cheeses and biscuits to take to the SA in the morning.
Pic of my kitchen window sill.
Granddaughter's tee shirt.
