Florenceem, my love, big hugs.xxx
Jivjules, big hugs for you and your son.xxx
Your garden sounds lovely dND. I still have no clue what to do with my empty space in the front of the house. I had thought of meadow but I keep thinking it is full sun all day, a shame to waste it. My previous garden was shade which I loved but it would be a shame not to benefit from a South facing garden. I keep thinking kniphofia and the bright colours a shade garden doesn't have.
A mirror and a tapestry picture hung. New curtains came and have been hung. I have hand hemmed a blanket that has been waiting about 3 years. Also started a crochet blanket for Ukraine.
Mr V came home with 7 bags of allium bulbs and hyacinth bulbs that he was given. Love them but not looking forward to potting them up tomorrow. I know not which shed the bag of compost is.
I found a garden furniture cover by our patio doors. Mr V took it back to a neighbour over the back we haven't met and made introductions.
Got the quote to re site and have a new radiator.Very expensive radiator but it's freezing in our sitting room.It will be a lot warmer when we can get some flooring down too.
No actual decluttering but I am using stuff up which won't be replaced.

Thursday very misty from 00:30 to 07:00, then a dry cold day with a high of 6°C (-5° due to ESE wind) & a low of 2°C Wrote a 5 day menu plan & a shopping list. Whilst DH & DSis were shopping I descaled the kettle. Spent the rest of the afternoon knitting & watching recorded programmes including a couple of episodes of WinterWatch. I have weighed & prepped ingredients for tonight’s dinner- creamy bacon & pea linguine………. Dinner was delicious 😋 Wudupa

@jivjules1 ao sorry to hear about your son and hope he is getting good care and take care of yourself.
Nothing decluttered except £ as must have dozed off on train and had to get a taxi some way back to my dad's .... his house is a 5 min walk usually and not a 25 min taxi! It was the middle of the night so last bus gone too.
Trades quoting today but out of the blue a viewing tomorrow so we will see.
Dd1 will come and help.at my house sometime.

@vulpix there are lots of beautiful and easy sun loving plants. We have quite a few small leaf salvias, hot lips is a popular option but there are lots more. They are hardy and don’t need watering very often. Penstemon and also fantastic and flower for absolutely ages.

Thinking of you, sending hopes that your son can begin to recover again, glad he’s safe..
Everything else can wait, take care of you for a while as the emotional toll is huge.. make time for a cry/rant/wail should you need it and also some comfort (movie/book/lie in)
Hugs..🤗

@dND My local crafters made a massive amount of poppies too. They donated them to the community council who then tied them onto a net and made a cascade for Remembrance Sunday. It may be something to consider as in my experience RBL is more interested in selling poppies to raise funds.
Double size blowup campbed donated to a lady wanting to take her kids this year-can't see me using it again - so another bit out.
Any suggestions what to do with 2 hessian aprons- I have no idea where they came from or what they have been used for but they 'look' old? They are full length brown sacking like material.

I'm going to confess I've not caught up on posts this week - I've pretty much just procrastinated all week, though I have submitted my tax return and done 25/26 up to this month… so just some accidental decluttering as I did other things -
6 - bundle of receipts
7 - 3 shoe boxes - I embroider shoes for a living and send shoes back out in my nice branded boxes so the old boxes get saved up then donated to my friends school :)
8 - old notebook to bin
9 - 2023 diary binned - I don't know why I still had it
10 - old purse! - this is slightly preemptive as it's my task for this afternoon, but I promise I will do it! I can't keep carrying around 2 purses haha!
10/2026 - I just figured out I need to do 45 items a week to reach my goal… eek!
I'm off for the weekend, hopefully see you earlier next week with some action :) xI hope you know your capable, & brave, & significant.
even when it feels like your not....19 -
Morning all,
@Florenceem - Go where you feel comfortable.
@jivjules1 - So sorry to hear about your son, must be so difficult but he will get the care he needs and you can know that he is safe.
Just having a quick bit of brekkie with some paracetamol before I head out on my dog walks for the day. Will be out until around 2pm then home for a blast of the heat and a nap! Still loaded, coughed most of the night last night.
Will sit and sort out all the funds for February when I get home, make sure I'm all set for the month ahead.

Thank you Greenhopeful. It is years since I had a full sun garden. I am drawn to wanting a pink and purple garden. I want things I couldn't grow before like verbena, lavender and agapanthus. My shade garden at the last house was very successful, all green and white with a lot of hostas, ferns, hydrangeas, lilly of the valley etc. I will do that again at the back of the house round the patio.I can't decide on front garden bed layout. All sugestions gratefully received. There is a seating area that gets afternoon and evening sun in the back where I could perhaps do a hot colours garden. Difficult to know really as it is very overgrown with bushes. The garden will take a few years I think. What I know already is there seems to be very little in the garden that is worth saving. Well there is a very nice 60's concrete garden container that's it.

Good morning chums well thank goodness January is almost over it, seemed to be never ending.Which is daft really as there are other months of 31 days ,but I think its because we get so busy with Christmas and family stuff .
January is such a come-down as its dull ,grey, usually cold and wet and even looking out of the window at the garden looking sad and sodden is depressing.
I'm going to treat myself and DD to a nice bunch of daffs I know we have lots growing in the garden but I just fancy a few bunches indoors to brighten the polace up a bit
Just had a text from DGS Mikey at Uni he is in the middle of his dissertion as he finishes in the summer and he's quite pleased as he says he feels its going well. He's had one interview, and has a second one to go to which I am keeping my fingers crossed for him, although there are an awful lot of candidates applying. But he says he has things lined up, but can't apply until he knows how this job has gone.
Today I am, as its at the moment not raining, going to declutter to the garden waste bin some of the winter debris in the back garden
On the Island there is a good few palm trees, which look very pretty, but drop large leaves One of our neighbours has a couple in his garden and the wind seems to carry the falling leaves over into ours.Plus we have a good few leaves from our own trees that need clearing up. DGS Ben will be down for half term and we will hopefully be getting stuck into the veg patch.
Right time to get a wriggle on
Cheers chums soon be spring
