Good Morning chums ,strange light in the sky ....could it be a sliver of sunshine trying to poke through
forecast is a bit of drizzle later, but anything other than the grey sky is appreciated at the tail end of January.
DD decluttered onto Vinted a jacket I bought last October when we were in the Medway. I've literally only worn it once and she christened it my 'Hiawatha" jacket as its a bit ......colourful.
I bought it from Cotton Traders as that was the only shop near to our air B&B open at the time. I foolishly had forgotten to bring a jacket for the weekend, and it had turned a bit nippy. So hopefully someone will want it, if it doesn't go it will go to a CS as its just taking up space in my wardrobe and I doubt I will ever wear it a second time
Managed to declutter 7 more bits on the killer jigsaw
its such a stinker that even 7 pieces i get chuffed about
I did a lot of knitting yesterday and have only a few more squares to finish off a larger square which will make square 5 of 6 .All 6 sewn together eventually will make another single blanket for the charity.First single one of 2026 will be finished then.
My son-in-law made a delicious slow cooked lamb hock last night for dinner and made a honey, herb and mustard sauce which he drizzled over the top , golly for an quantity surveyor he's a darned excellent cook I gave him an 11/10 rating for last nights meal.
I hope everyone has a good day and you get a glimpse of a ray or two of sunshine
JackieO xx
PS I too used to top up the tomato ketchup bottles with slightly cheaper stuff, and no one seemed to notice I don't eat the stuff myself so I wasn't bothered. Also my late OH used to say he only liked R.Whites lemonade, (little did he know it was often replaced with supermarket lemonade
) Oh us ladies can be wily creatures when it comes to the pennies can't we

Happy Sunday
Everyone is doing a great job, I haven't kept up with reading everything but hopefully I will try catch up
I've not had a good week came down with a cold on Monday and it's knocked me of my feet all week, feeling better now.
I should have got paid last week and I haven't, so that's a new frog to sort need to get all my information ready for when I phone them to make sure I sent my sick note to them in time which I'm sure I did.
Back on the the decluttering now, I did sell 2 items last week, I have kept on top of my emails so I'm happy with that.

Is this decluttering? I had 3 tops pretty much the same colour

they were a lovely bright acidy green but have dulled somewhat over the years. I've dyed one with a kingfisher blue dye that I've had for years and its gone a lovely bottle green and ive worn it a few times rather than it just hanging in the wardrobe. So today I've bought an espresso brown and doing a second top. It seems to be coming out a rather nice rich brown which will be useful. Not sure what ill do the last top. At £4 for a sachet of dye im happy getting 'new' usable tops

I join you all in not wasting things and over consuming, I even save any paper bags I am given and always put a paper serviette I am given in my bag. It's not that I am tight, I just hate waste. That includes not having a house full of stuff I don't use. I would rather give stuff away if I don't have a use for it anymore. I seem to have a limit of how much "stuff" I can happily be the custodian of. At the moment I am happy with what I have. I am not actively decluttering, just decluttering as I come across things that I no longer have a use for. I do enjoy hearing all about other peoples decluttering, decluttering by proxy!
Good job with the dye Daisy. Reminds me, I must dye all Mr V's black jeans black again.
We had a txt from our builder last night. He noticed we had been cheating on him with the landscaper. hahahahaha. Builder is coming to see us later. We need to organise a schedule of work. He has finally finished the 11 month extension job on a listed building so can start his waiting list.
Today I hope Mr V will sand the dining table to remove the last of the failed varnish, it has gone tacky. I will give the Edwardian dressing table it's first coat of black paint. It's not decluttering or redistributing but it is eating frogs which helps us enjoy our home...and we all know what will happen when this house is finished. hahahahaha Yep I will want to move and do it all again.

Hi all. Weekend spent managing DGCs. Their dad is sending pictures of Caribbean. DGD4's friend stayed over Friday and most of Saturday which kept her occupied. She has been cooking the meals so far and is starting on a Sunday dinner of steak and fresh veg. We had to go back to Mr T this morning because the PJs we got still had a security tag on them. Tomorrow is definitely frog and paperwork day.
DGS4 helped me do some sorting of kitchen cupboards - he lifted things out of the lower cupboards which is what I find hard to do. I know what's there now and a few bits identified to go in CS bag. Some items swapped between cupboards for more logical arrangement. They are doing messy things like making jelly in ice moulds and frozen lego shapes with blackcurrant juice but at least their not on 'screens'. Too dreary and wet to go out. Washing put away and another lot done and on the clothes horse. I'll get on with wallpaper stripping when they are at school. I've heard from the plumber and contacted the electrician again. I've identified a savings account for the 'bathroom' project which will probably be the end of the year. Garden will be 2027 I think but I'll do what I can once weather starts to improve. DGD4 did do some hoovering and floor mopping for which she gets some pocket money. She also tidied her room up.
I got paint charts and DGS4 has chosen colour for bedroom 3 which is really his room. I found a better permanent home for a few more things in lounge. Hopefully by the time I get round to doing the lounge random things will have been reduced by 50%.
131 Pet Insurance paid for year
132 Plumber booked for Thursday
133 One savings account closed
134 Gravy boat to CS bag (I had 4)
135 Glass dish CS bag
136 Ice lolly moulds to CS bag
137 Tablecloth in CS bag
138 KItchen shelves sorted, wiped, lined and refilled
139 Spare cutlery tray to CS bag
140 Banking updated - January has been expensive
141 February birthday cards written - both USA so I'll get stamps tomorrow and post one straight away.
I still need to finish my jigsaw which is proving very hard. Like someone else said I celebrate just putting a handful of pieces in place.2026 Decluttering and redistribution 144/1526 Major job list 30/500 Total 174/2026

Sunday is another overcast dreary day. Rained this morning but now dry & the sun is trying to break through 🙂 A high of 7°C (feeling 4° colder due to gusting E wind) & a low of 5°C The last load of clothes washing is chugging away. Only bedding to wash now but that can wait. Straight into cheerleading:
tibawo, I was nodding my head firmly in agreement when reading This “Been procrastinating …………. Motivation just isn’t there to do a deep dive into the big clutter.” Hopefully we can both find some ‘decluttering mojo’ this weekend 🤞 Fingers crossed that you find a few more bits’n’pieces for a car boot sale & that the weather improves 🤞
DundeeDoll, your 26 minute sessions are definitely working well 👏 A lovely find & hopefully a ‘sign’ that DD2 will soon find a new home 🤞
charlies_tribe, first thing Monday you should book an appointment at the Opticians 🙏 So sorry to hear that you are “struggling with everything” 😔 Hopefully your meds start to work soon & February will bring some brighter weather which will encourage your ‘decluttering mojo’ to appear🤞 Good luck in the kids rooms 🍀
regnbue, certainly a memorable last day at work & thank you for sharing - brightened my day considerably ☺️ In fact I am still giggling at the ‘vision of the the clown comb disappearing down the toilet’ 🤭
Excellent decluttering Deni_debt-free_dreamer, especially the bag to CS 👏 Yippee to “decluttering the decorator” 🥳 & being able to return furniture etc to its designated room/space 👏
Brie, very pleased to hear that your OH didn’t need the 05:30 reminder 😅 I would definitely keep him ………… at least for a little while 😂 Hope the decluttering of financial toads went well 🤞
Florenceem, another busy day of cleaning/tidying/decluttering 👏 Although I am pleased to hear that you spent some time with friends 🥹 Please take care of your back 🙏 Gentle virtual cwtches coming your way 🤗
Excellent work florianatwobob 👏 & well done on “running down the freezer” 👏 This “….but have now recluttered it (the freezer) with a food shop. DBro1 is most pleased as creative cooking does not come naturally to him and he has been asking hopefully when there will be a supermarket shop.” had me in stitches 😂
charlies_tribe, great news that reading Fbook posts reignited your ‘decluttering mojo’ 👏 You have certainly been busy & done a great deal of work not only decluttering but also tidying & cleaning 👏 Very pleased to hear that DH has been helping 😊 You have both worked hard so I am awarding you each a medal 🏅🏅
Excellent decluttering Wednesday2000 👏 That breakfast in the café sounds yummy 😋
QueenJess, thanks for asking about This “I am intrigued how you reuse washing machine water though? Please indoctrinate me into your wise ways!” 👏
Yorkie1, yippee to a new mattress 🥳 & good news that the delivery chaps took it upstairs & also removed the old mattress 👏 Good luck decluttering items rather than returning them to the bedroom 🍀 & good luck with the seed sowing 🍀
Excellent decluttering Florenceem 👏 A medal 🏅 is on its way.
florianatwobob, just wondering if your ‘fiendish jigsaw’ was the same one that London_1 is doing 🤔
tibawo, fingers crossed you find the remote 🤞 Good luck with your “seven focus jobs” this week 🍀 Great work with the sales 👏
charlies_tribe, wow what a brilliant day of decluttering 👏 Your decluttering mojo also seems to have encompassed several of your children who joined in with their own decluttering 🥳🤩 This “There was a huge bag of sweets/snacks under DC6s bed. When they first came to stay with us they were to scared to say if they didn't like anything and had stored it all. It's all gone today (way ood, moldy, crushed flat...)” was so touching that it brought tears to my eyes 🥹 Fingers crossed that DC5’s job application results in an interview 🤞
Good decluttering TC77 👏
Green_hopeful, thanks for answering Brie’s question about the washing machine water reuse 👏 Can I be nosy & ask where you live 🙏
London_1, I do hope the sun made a proper appearance however brief 🙏 Fingers crossed that your Hiawatha jacket sells quickly 🤞 Great work with both the knitting & the 7 pieces of jigsaw 👏 Now your jigsaw has several descriptive names - killer, stinker & fiendish 😉 Loved This “PS I too used to top up the tomato ketchup bottles with slightly cheaper stuff, and no one seemed to notice I don't eat the stuff myself so I wasn't bothered. Also my late OH used to say he only liked R.Whites lemonade, (little did he know it was often replaced with supermarket lemonade 🙂) Oh us ladies can be wily creatures when it comes to the pennies can't we 🙂🙂🙂” 😅
Deb4, sorry to hear about the cold sounds like a right stinker 😞 Pleased to hear that you are finally feeling better 😮💨 Everything crossed that you can get your salary paid quickly 🤞 Well done keeping up with your emails 👏
daisy_1571, definitely decluttering - unloved/unworn tops into loved & wearable tops 👏 I love the new deep rich brown colour 😊
Lovely post vulpix ☺️ This “We had a txt from our builder last night. He noticed we had been cheating on him with the landscaper. hahahahaha.” will have me chuckling for days 😂 As to This “……….It's not decluttering or redistributing but it is eating frogs which helps us enjoy our home...and we all know what will happen when this house is finished. hahahahaha Yep I will want to move and do it all again.” I do hope you are joking 🙃 After all I seem to remember something along the lines of ‘never (moving) again’ after all the delays & complications this time around 😉
GrannyKate, sounds like you are having a wonderful weekend 🥹 (although all things being equal I think I would like to be in the Caribbean 😂) Some excellent decluttering 👏 & so pleased to hear that the DGCs are pitching in & helping you 😊 Good luck with your ‘fiendish’ jigsaw 🍀
Muddy_Walker, sorry to hear that work has been so busy ☹️ & that your ‘hubby’ is ill 🥺 Hopefully he is on the mend now 🤞 & you can have some rest 🙏 remember the TLC Carriage is open 😊 Very impressed that you managed to fit in so much decluttering 👏
All caught up 🙂 The last load of washing is now tumble drying. DH has completed his Garden Bird Watch Hour & sent his results 😊 He was utterly frozen by the time he came in even though he had wrapped up well 🥶 I hope everyone is having as good a day as possible & managing to stay warm as the temperatures seem to have dropped again. See you later 👋
P.S. I managed a little decluttering - one plastic bottle rinsed & recycled 😉

Not much decluttering yesterday apart from deleting a few photos from my phone every time I had a cup of tea. I am aiming to get them down to those I really want to keep and then print them off. Today I decluttered three jumpers back to the shop to get a refund as I didn't really need them and wasn't that happy with the fit. I did buy one jumper while I was there but a net loss of two so could have been worse.18
